Summary: A step by step to install a Tailgate Torsion Bar

Buy the Torsion bar. This is the only brand I have used.

You need to cut 3/4" off the end that goes into the bed wall marked "A" this is due to the double wall of the bed which you'll see in future pix

Remove your tail light lens to prevent scratching
Drill a 3/8 inch hole 4 1/4" up from the tailgate cup. ONLY GO THROUGH THE OUTER WALL!

You can see in this pix the inner wall where the bit hit it.

Wiggle the "A" end of the bar into the hole. You will need to bend the top of the hole out with the bar. This is normal

Mark the tailgate where the other end of the bar is. Should be 32 1/4" from the end of the tailgate

Remove Tailgate and lay on a sturdy surface.
Drill another 3/8" hole where you marked it. On some of these trucks I've noticed an inside "wall" that you may need a long bit to drill through.

With the help of a few friends, reinstall the tailgate. It will take some wiggling and be careful not to scratch the sides of the truck with the ends of the tailgate.

Finished and installed should look like this. Make sure it's flush on the bottom of the tailgate.
