In Bed Cargo light switch

Summary: This mod will control the cargo lights from a switch inside the bed.

Special thanks to Didit and MainOne for the info on how to do this. :goodstuff:

You will be adding a switch of your choice (cargo light switch like mine or you can use a pin switch to have them come on when you open the tailgate. Instructions not included for a pin switch.

The cargo light wires are a constant 12v and when you push the button inside the cab in completes the  ground side of the circuit. Adding a switch in the bed is simple in theory but can be a little labor intensive due to the mounting of the switch.

Splice a wire to the blue wire on the cargo light. I used an inline splice for this. You will need to run the wire back to where you're going to mount the switch.

I used a cargo light switch provided Didit. I'm not sure where he got it.

Figure out where you're going to mount the switch and make a hole for it. Right under the top tie down in the bed is a plug that can be removed that already has a hole behind it. This will need enlarged to allow the switch to fit.

Find a suitable place for a ground. (I had the saddlebag off at the time so I went here.) Make sure you scrape the paint of around the hole so you get a good ground. I put dielectric grease on it and on my connections to prevent corrosion.

Hook up the wires from your splice and the ground to the switch. Test the lights at this time.

Now just finish mounting your switch

Your dash light will light up when using the switch in the back the same as using the button in the cab.
