Cleanng the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF)
Submitted By: oHIobellboy Date: October 02, 2010, 12:26:56 PM Views: 3441
Summary: A short description of how I clean the MAF

NEVER TOUCH THE BACK SIDE OF THE SCREEN WHERE THE RESISTORS ARE!!

The MAF is located next to the air cleaner box.

You'll need some electrical cleaner or they do make a MAF cleaner.

Removed the MAF from the air intake by removing the two hose clamps. You can take the MAF the whole way out but I just leave mine connected to plug.

Here you can see the resistors on the back side of the screen

Front side (notice the dirty screen)

Spray it with the contact cleaner and it comes nice and clean.

Allow to dry ( I close the hood and wash the rest of the truck while doing this. Normally 15 minutes is sufficient) and reinstall.
