Tire Straw poll

Getting new shoes on the AV in the AM.  BFG T/A KO or Bridgestone DUler A/T Revo?!  My tire shop has both in 285-70-17

I have a tone of input from friends and family, but want some more opinions (not that yours will matter...).

I ran the Duelers on my seventeens and was really happy with the ride and performance. They were quiet and reponsive.

Just got home with the BFG's.   Glad I did as they are calling for an ice storm her in Indiana.   Will post pix later when my wife brings my camera home.   Thanks for all of the input (OK - my brother influenced me too).   I think the co$t will be worth it!

I am just southwest of LAF so I get much of your weather.  I like the Imp, and would love to see more pix!  When I get my site hosted I will get all of my pix of my old rides and my restorations up there...

On just the 1st tank of gas (@ $2.45/gal) I am seeing almost a 2 mpg drop with the 285-70-17 AT's...  The tire shop put them @ 35psi (which seems OK and I would think any more would be really rough riding).  Do I use this to justify exhaust and intake work to gain it back?!

I would say so. Anything to open up the gills on that beast should work. I would start with an air intake 1st and get some results first. As putting new pipes in the beast you're prone to keep your foot down a bit longer while enjoying the good 'ole noise from the exhaust.  (i have both :thumb: )

fyi....bigger,wider tires, expect to have some MPG loss unless you have a handheld programmer to compensate just a bit.   (tire size,shifting points,etc)

I expected some change but not that big...  When I lowered my 92 Silverado, put on a Flowmaster system and added a hard tonneau cover in one shot I gained almost 5 mpg and got spoiled...  Waiting for Summer now to drive her again!

Have had your speedometer corrected yet? That will throw your mileage off also. Taller tires usually hurts the city mileage, but helps highway mileage.
