What size motor is it 327 5.3 right?
I've always had real good luck with Bosch Plugs, and MSD wires, Not sure if MSD makes wires for this application but Bosch does.
The platinum gives a little hotter fire and longer life.
I had to use a swiveling plug wrench with one of those T-handles. My ratchet wouldn't clear. I was P.O'd too. It looks like there's enough space but if there is I couldn't find it.
Well I got the back one just a little manuver thing. Now its just the front one.It seems to be getting harder as it was coming out.I just left it as is and put on the new wires on.I cant even put it back in so its ideling fine so I hope its alright.Ive never had a problem like this????Thanks guys any helpp on getting the old one out just pm me or write it up one here for anyone else who has this problem can see how its done.Hog
Alright, that sounded stupid! It might have gone in crossed and coming out will really tear up the threads.
Are you just going by what the computer says or do you figure your milage manually? That and the milage that you are getting sounds like what I get when the weather is crappy and I have to use the auto four wheel. That drops my milage drastically.
Boy that stinks bro! i don't have any idea why it would be doing that. Even with the twenties on mine i still got about 17.7 this week with all city driving, and I really haven't done much to my truck.
i'll call my dad's service manager today and see if he has any ideas to help you out.

Ouch!!! If I were to make a totally UNeducated guess (im not really knowledgeable), I'd say the problem is with the different plug, or the different compression ratio that has occurred because of the spark plug being turned out a bit. If it was me, I'd take it to a reputable shop and ask them to change "1" spark plug! ;D Thants right! That way they have insurance and you really need to have that one changed, like I said I don't know, but I know its not a good thing to have them different, maybe not bad, but definitely not good.Re-reading everything, you haven't gotten that front stuck plug out yet right?
Could the tires have anything to do w/it?Hog265 70 16
Hey Hog, My dad's service tech called last night and said to have the o2 sensors checked which I believe someone mentioned way earlier in this thread. He told me any dealer or reputable shop could check them to make sure that they are functioning properly and if they are not then they could easily be causing your gas milage woes.He said that he has never seen an AV run that low of numbers unless something is wrong with the fuel delivery or the owner just drives the hell out of it and isn't keeping up with the maintenence.I was told that a diagnostic of the o2 sensors and the fuel injection programming should only run about $35-$50. It might be worth that if it will save you from spending a fortune in gas every time you drive your truck.
I wish I knew more personally to help you out. I just kind of take the advice of the guy's in the shop at my dad's dealership cause I figure they mess with Chevy's every day.
My truck had 130,000 on it, sub zero temps and the idle was really bad. When I got it above 1000 RPM's everything was fine tho. I talked to the dealership and they ran diagnostics, they said that all 4 of the O2 sensors were running lean... They said this could be cause of my 93 octane I run, the headers, or high flow cats, directhits, or the frigid cold. We replaced them and I noticed a big improvement at idle speed. They were trying to tell me how the computer will sense that too much O2 or not enough will make it change the amount of gas that it puts into the engine and therefore cause it to idle up/down on me. Haven't had a problem since tho.Notice I said they were trying, I don't quite understand it...
My '02 has four and I honestly have never looked up the price of them. I'm only at 58k so I'm hoping that I have another couple of years before I have to start in on all of that.

I read up on this on a GM forum last night and the general concensous sounds like changing the front two first as they seem to affect the overall performance of the vehicle in question more. Don't ask me why that would be cause I couldn't find a definitive explination for this but that was the advice given.
They say that it's supposed to figure it out on it's own but they always disconnect the battery for about ten minutes to let everything clear and then it gurantees the change to take effect before the vehicle leaves the lot.
