Sparratic Vibration at about 55-65 mph???
« on: June 15, 2010, 11:46:03 AM »
Hey y'all! I just bought a 2003 Avalanche Z71 105k miles and I'm still getting used to the tighter suspension and the touchy steering...but I am getting an on-again-off-again vibration when i'm accelerating on on cruise control at about 55-65mph.

I took it to Pep-Boys who said the alignment and steering was good, and they re-balanced the tires so it should all be good...but i'm still getting this sparratic vibration.

Any ideas? This truck is only 5 days out of the dealership so I need to figure this out before it gets too late and i'm stuck with the bill!!!!!

THANKS!

Sounds like it could be the u-joints. The other thing you mentioned about using the CC, sometimes I noticed the CC working a little harder when going downhill. Almost like a Jake brake on a bigger truck. Seems like it surges to keep the speed where you've got it set. I'd still check the u joints first.

WHERE IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE FRIENDS AND AVY'S, AND NOT THE ALMIGHTY ADVERTISING DOLLAR!

also I know you said you just had the wheels balanced, but I'd have it done again, if they get in a hurry like Pep Boys have a habit of, lol.   You get the picture............when the wheels are off have them visually inspect the rotors for warp.

Where do you feel the vibration?  In the steering wheel, or in the seat?

If it's the steering wheel, then something is up with the front end, if it's the seat, then something is wrong in the rear (of the AV, not yours...)

It's in the front mainly.
