Body Lift --- Rear Bumper Gap
« on: June 04, 2010, 06:26:55 PM »
I put on a 3" PA body lift and I finally found someone that was able to fab a bracket so I could attach my grille guard.  My question is what have you folks done to fill the space between the rear bumper and the hitch?   I have materials for an idea I'm going to try, but would like to see what others have done.  Thanks in advance!

Couldn't you take the hitch off and have some new frame mounting brackets welded onto the hitch to relocate it up against the bumper? I know you pull a trailer so you are also concerned about integrity of the hitch but I would think as long as you used thick plate steel it would be fine.
2002 LPM Z71, factory 4.10s - Magnacharger w/3" pulley, TOG's headers, 216/224-.551/.551-115 cam/pushrods/dual springs/titanium retainers, built tranny, Yank TT2600 stall converter, 24K GVW Tru-Cool tranny cooler, Hooker Max-Flow muffler, Flex-A-Lites, ProCold intake, MSD wires & TR6 plugs, 20" Panther Juice 6's, 2.8" rear lowering springs & assorted hardware, J&J Enterprises stainless grille, body-color painted taillight covers. Self-tuned with HP Tuners software.

Cracked rear bumper cover from a run-in with a deer in fall 2008!

I knew you would be on this one Joe.   :cheesy1:  I know there are too many shades of black going on.  :verymad:    Did a little bit of searching on that very subject, but would have to go to an aftermarket hitch to make it flush.  That's not cheap when you throw in the hitch and a new drop/leveling hitch since mine is circa 2005.  This is just my first attempt.  Not sure if I like it either, but I don't have the gap and it only cost me under $5 so OK for right now.

OK here is a variaton of what I did.

Buy a reciver tube at a trailer place $10-15

Weld it through the spacer and move the hitch step up??

Then plug the real reciver with a smaller step or somthing......

Strap 4 or 6 slim driving lights across the top of the hitch tube.... back up in style :evil5:

or LED sign board.....

First you'll lose your mind
then any free cash laying around
Awesome mods will bloat your credit limits
Acting like a crack addict, refinancing your home, farm out the kids......
You'll cry yourself to sleep, stuff like, must get new rims.
Lift it skyward or drop it like it's hott.
Important questions like, polished or chrome, will shadow you day and NIGHT.
