wow nice Dremel tool kit. How are you going to do it without the cladded bumper?
I figured i'd use the hole saw and trim after with the dremmel. Quicker i guess.
3" will work just fine. Make sure you have a spare pilot bit around. We broke 2 of them the first time I had my hands on that mod. (well, I broke one and Heidi broke the other one). Drill slow. I just used some tbt20 around the edge of the cupholder then to "glue" them in. Mine haven't moved in the two years they've been there.
Why not just use a 3" hole saw in a drill?
Drill slow.
What kind of mod do you get to do to the outside of the tailgate if you don't DRILL SLOW? B
Although I don't tailgate guess I gotta do this mod. Stupid question here. Where are you all getting the cup holders? Autozone? Oreilly Auto Parts?
Here's another thread... http://www.chevyavalancheclub.com/index.php/topic,2667.0.htmlBrian,..... i dont know the link but im sure obb knows where he got the cups.
My local RV store has 3" long and 1 1/2" long looks like I will have to check Bass Pro which is an hour away or try ebay.
Just installed all 4 of mine and I love them!!! I got mine at Bass Pro Shop here in Grapevine TX!!
quick question for you guys? i did the tailgate mod, i was wondering what do you guys use to secure the cups in there so water doesnt get in? on the bumpers i used tape.
Black silicone should work. I used some scrap stuff from work on mine.
under the cup or ontop? cause i did try it under the lip and it didnt hold too good.
Have we tried this on a next Gen Avalanche?
I was there. But I think with a metal saw it could be done
