I'm running JBA shorty headers, which are supposed to help more at the low end as compared to at least some long tube headers.  I think the difference may at least partially be due to primary tube size being too big, at least on the Dynatech long tubes.  If you are going forced induction, the larger primaries will probably be helpful at the low end.  Shorties are also nice in that they are a drop in replacement for the stock exhaust manifolds.

18x10 Forged Weld Wheels, BFG g-Force KDWs, JBA shorties, custom catback with FM70, Crane plug wires, Trailblazer Torque Converter, bigger cam, efans, HP Tuners custom tune, WAAG stuff, mildly boosted with Vortech Supercharger.......

The eBay ones are 1.75" primaries down to a 2.5" collector, and into a 3" y pipe. The headers with Y pipe will bolt right up to everything and no one has had any issues with the installs. A couple here and there but it's only on the newer trucks that they have fitment issues.
