FLOWMASTER SUPER 40
« on: March 23, 2010, 10:08:11 PM »
I ordered a Flowmaster Super 49 series muffler for the Avalanche on the 12th of this month.  I ordered it on line from Performance Curve, they are based somewhere around Roanoke Virginia.  They have an EBay store but I purchased it from their regular website.  I thought I was getting a good deal for $85 with free shipping.  Here we are twelve days later and no muffler!!  I am so pissed.  The douche bag that owns the place sent me an email on the 17th telling me that my muffler is being shipped directly from Flowmaster and that he would get me the tracking number.  I didn't get it, so I emailed him back and he told me that he had sent an email to his rep at Flowmaster but he didn't get a response back.  I'm starting to get the feeling that I've been ripped off so I contacted Flowmaster today on my own.  The sales rep I spoke with told me that if the muffler was being shipped directly to me they would have  to have a record of it in their system.  He looked it up under both my name as well as the name of the business I purchased it from.  NOTHING!!!  I paid via Paypal so I filed a claim to try and get my money back, he has yet to respond to the claim.  This dude is lucky he lives in Virginia, it would be shame if I had to hand out an $85 ass whippin'!!!!  SO I guess the point of this just for me to rant and blow off some steam but also if any of guys buy on EBay,  beware of buying from the seller PERFORMANCE CURVE!!!

Once you get your money back you may want to price someplace like Summit Racing. If the cost isn't that much more at least you know you'll get your parts.
Shame people do stuff like that. :knuppel2:

It's a shame that these types of things have to happen. I'm sure by buying over the Internet from no-name places most of us will get burned sooner or later.

I've been lucky so far but I also try to do some research before I make the purchase decision; Google is your friend!  :winkani:

That's the kind of stuff that scares me away from buying on Ebay. I haven't yet and not sure if I ever will. I guess I'm a bit of an oldtimer in that regard. Hopefully you get your $ back.

ebay can be what you make of it .... i make it a habbit to never buy from someone that has a rating below 98% .....

I had one bad experience on ebay ... well two actually .... the 2nd one turned out for the good when gave me a full refund when the package arrive and the hard drive was broke .... figured it was a BS sale so I filed a claim right away with ebay ... turns out it was fine when it shipped and he was willing to give me a full refund ...

2nd was a bad amp .... took me forever to figure out it was the amp .... figured it was my own fault in not reading the fine print and I bet it was a re-man unit .... got it for steal so it was my loss ... and too late to return it ...

For a point of reference, I needed to replace my Flowmaster 70 earlier this year.  Was a different shop but actually the same guy who actually sold and installed my 70, and who had replaced some bad cats for me as well at the other shop.  He had a Magnaflow in stock that he tried to sell me on, but I knew the wife was happy with the sound of the 70 so I asked him to order me another 70.  That was on a Friday.  Went back the following Friday and he installed it.  Not sure how long it took them to get it, but it was less than a week.

18x10 Forged Weld Wheels, BFG g-Force KDWs, JBA shorties, custom catback with FM70, Crane plug wires, Trailblazer Torque Converter, bigger cam, efans, HP Tuners custom tune, WAAG stuff, mildly boosted with Vortech Supercharger.......

Good News! I filed a complaint with Paypal and it took about 5 days for them to refund my money!  I ordered the Flowmaster Super 40 from another site for $89.99 with free shipping.  They actually gave me a tracking number within 24 hours of the order being processed.  It is scheduled for delivery on March 6th.

I'm in the market for a new muffer , thanks for the tip.  I ebay quite a bit and realy look at places with 99%+
I thought my AV was getting louder this winter and when I put on my summer tires I saw the back of the 'MYASS' muffler was rotted out on the back side. Kinda explains why my tip was crooked....
First you'll lose your mind
then any free cash laying around
Awesome mods will bloat your credit limits
Acting like a crack addict, refinancing your home, farm out the kids......
You'll cry yourself to sleep, stuff like, must get new rims.
Lift it skyward or drop it like it's hott.
Important questions like, polished or chrome, will shadow you day and NIGHT.

I was going to try this one if I hadn't run across a steal on the Hooker Maximum Flow ($37.50 including shipping  :cheesy1: ) I recently put on. Why don't you help me out and try the 4' long model? Then I'll have some feedback and know what to run when this one burns out in about 5 or 6 years. I think these would sound great on the Avy.

I almost had a psychic girlfriend, but she left me before we met.

I imagine there might be a benefit, but believe cons would include cost and where to fit the second muffler.  Stock muffler location (at least on the older AVs) is on the passenger side, gas tank is on driver's side.

Well boys the muffler is on!! Wow!!  This thing really sounds mean, I absolutely love it!!  It has a little cabin drone, around 1700-1800 rpm's, right before it shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd.  But other than that it's nothing that the radio can't fix!!
