To be honest, I don't remember where we got the aluminum.  I'm just an aging farmboy, we have an iron pile, a stainless pile and an aluminum pile.  If the piles get too big, we take a load in for scrap. 

I just looked up "aluminum strip" at Mcmaster-Carr and you can get a 12"x1 1/2"x1/8" strip for $12.25 or $12.26.
One is harder/stronger, the other is more corrosion resistant.  I think the corrosion resistant one would be the better choice.  There will be a little trimming and notching involved but, not much waste. 



Edit:  Now that I've caught up enough at work to catch my breath.  Thanks guys for the compliments.  I'm just trying to pay it forward (at least a little bit) for all the things I've learned from this and other AV sites.
