Pretty lofty goal there for a 6000 lb truck. Good luck with it. And when you want to line it up against the camaro, I'm sure a lot of members here will offer to drive one of the vehicles against ya including myself.  :cheesy1:

though the avalanche is heavy when I weighed it to move it was 6600 LBS and ran the 1/8 mile in 10.08 bone stock with 230 hp at the wheels and 350 lbs of torque. the camaro weighs in at a lofty 4000+ lbs. With 400 hp the power to weight ratio will be prity close. If I need to I think the engine will hold a nice shot of NOS. I would prefer all engine. not big on power adders.

got the engine installed and everything hooked up went to fire the engine up and nothing. it turns over but not fast enough to start. I had mike from B & B corvette come over and pull all the info off of the computer to build a custom tune for the upgrades. so I have to wait till he comes back and installs the program. I also found out that my dash has completly took a crap none of the guages work nor does the DIC. The back lights come on and nothing for guages. I did some reserch and there is a work call on alot of trucks and avalanches for the guage display not working. So hopefully the dealership can get me some answers before I do fire up the engine and not know vital info like oil pressure, votage, and temprature. this sucks

Depending on what year yours is ( I didn't look) there have been TSB's on the cluster to replace it. It almost sounds like your ecm is the culprit and not just the tune. That guage cluster is all electrical, a bunch of motors responding to "pulses" sent by the ecm.

OK, now I looked. I don't think the '03's were covered under that. If you need a new cluster (which I don't really think at this point, check all your fuses first, even the ones in the drivers side door panel) there's an ad that comes up here every now and for Digital Dash Solutions. I've dealt with them before and talked to them. Nice prices and great work.

I pulled all fuses as soon as I saw no guages move. I even went to the fuse box under the hood. mike told me that when he saw the lights for the dash work that the fuse and connections were good. I wll take a look at the digital dash solutions. if the dealership cant do anything about it. thanks for the info

Very interesting project.
2011 Silverado, Ext Cab Z-71 5.3, 6L80, Airaid CAI, Magnaflow cat-back, and a little tuning by me and HPT.

Gone but not forgotten, 2002 Victory red. The quickest lifted 4x4 AV in the US in it's day.

the base line dyno was done with 285-70/17 BF GOODRICH MT it pulled down 230 hp 350 torque. goal with the same size tires just BF GOODRICH KM2 mid tires same size. pull down at least 460-470 hp and over 550 torque at the wheels.  :cacrocks"

Impressive.  The most I pulled with mine is 472rwhp and 499ft# of torque and that's blown on nitrous.

Well, he does have nearly 150 more cubic inches of displacement to play with than you do....

18x10 Forged Weld Wheels, BFG g-Force KDWs, JBA shorties, custom catback with FM70, Crane plug wires, Trailblazer Torque Converter, bigger cam, efans, HP Tuners custom tune, WAAG stuff, mildly boosted with Vortech Supercharger.......

well for those that are wanting an update with the BIG BLOCK BEAST. It is running strong. yesterday my tuner came over and we did some data logging and made some adustments to the long trim fuel, mass air flow tables, and timing.
not this week but some time next week she will be going on the dyno for PE table adjustment and trying to pull down some BIG numbers all motor. :evil5:

I do have one question. With all the torque this truck has I still can't break the tires loose like I thought it would.
Even with the torque mangement taken off it seems odd to me maybe its just not geared well I don't know. I don't plan on putting a stall in it because of the towing I use the truck for. I do plan on changing the diff gears from 3.73 stock to 4.56 in the near future. any advice or coments welcome thanks

not this week but some time next week she will be going on the dyno for PE table adjustment and trying to pull down some BIG numbers all motor.

I'm pretty sure Ski Edition went from the 3.73 to the 4.56 in his for towing in his 1500. Maybe he will chime in with the results of that swap other than losing fuel mileage.

well for those that are wanting an update with the BIG BLOCK BEAST. It is running strong. yesterday my tuner came over and we did some data logging and made some adustments to the long trim fuel, mass air flow tables, and timing.

I think what will be interesting to hear from Ski Edition about will be what he thinks of his higher stall TC after towing his camper up this way today.  I know he wasn't that thrilled with the higher gear rear end putting him in 3rd gear much sooner.

thanks Ohio and main one how big of tire is SKI running on his truck?
mine are 285-70R17
to get back to factory gear ration I need to go to 4.10 but i was told with the tire size I am at now it would be best to go to 4.56 for towing with this being a big block anything over 10 MPG I am happy with.
right now in town and highway I see 13 mpg. thats at a 1000 miles on the engine rebuild.

Are you running a 4L80E tranny?

Then you probably wouldn't have the same complaint about the 4.56 gears as Ski Edition would, or at least it wouldn't be as much of an issue for you.  The 4L60E in the half-ton trucks has a much wider gear ratio than the 4L80E.  He noticed his truck not pulling as hard after hitting 3rd gear due to it dropping below 3000 rpm on the shift, and that was at a fairly low speed with those gears.

alright the truck is driving great and it is ready for the dyno to finish tuning.
right now I a scheduled to go on friday.

anyone want to take a guess at what kind of numbers she will pull?

my guess is 425 hp and 530 tq at the wheels  :fast:

like everyone else I hope for more but trying to keep my guess conservative so
if it does't make as much as I would like I won't be as dissapointed. LOL

I'm guessing about 6mpg around town  :cheesy1:

Can't wait to read the results.

363 hp at the wheels and 449 lbs of torque
a bit disapointed with the hp was expecting at least 400 at the wheels
with raylar claiming 525 at the flywheel. but it is what it is
as far as torque I am very pleased 400 lbs from 3000 rpm all the way up.
I wanted to post the dyno chart but it is more than 600 kb.

How far up is "all the way up"?

HP and foot-pounds should be equal at 5252 rpm.

I copied it from that site. It says it's only 109kb. Maybe they have a built in resizer. :dunno:  If you want to email me the original I'll try to reduce it down for on here or upload it to my photobucket account and link it here.
