What is your favorite glaze?
« on: January 16, 2010, 06:58:21 PM »
With my new black Av I am looking at paint protection.  I am planning to use one of the synthetic glazes on the market as they have some of the best UV protection and will last much longer than carnuba wax here in the desert.

I have used Black Fire glaze on my Ram back in 2003.  It made the paint shine very nicely and silky smooth and slippery.  I barely did any exterior maintenenace for the past few years other than give it a bath once or twice per year.    It still looked remarkably good considering.

Now I am looking to see what the favorite is nowdays.  Some I am interersted in are Zaino, Klassee, Black Fire, or ???  There are so many different products out there, its hard to figure out what's the best route.  Any recommendations?

I've got and have used the Klasse products. I researched a lot before buying it; it was rated just under Zaino and it's a whole lot easier (fewer steps/less time) to apply. I've gotten kinda lazy though and am curently using Meguiars NXT Tech wax. It's easy to apply and shines nicely; the drawback is that is doesn't last very long. I'm sure it would last even less time on a dark-colored vehicle.

Even lazier is skipping the wax and just using a quick detailer spray. I always finish off my hand washes with a quick detail spray after everything has dried off.

Thanks MBT.  I spent a few hours on a detailing site and ended up going back to BlackFire. I ordered some last evening and will see how it works.  One of the reasons for sticking with BF is its slipperiness.  Anything to keep the dust down will help a lot.

I went with the BlackFire Wet Diamond.  I finally was able to get the Av washed and claybarred, and prepped.  I gave the paint a coat of Wet Diamond and it was super easy.  This stuff buffs off with a plush microfiber rag easier than drying it after washing.  It leaves the paint soooooo smooth and slippery.  Once the exterior was done, I went over with a gloss enhancing spray also from BlackFire.  I will give it the second coat of Wet Diamond tonight.  Too bad its raining for the next couple days.  I will try to get some pics of it later this week/weekend.

If I feel energetic I will give it a coat of carnuba.  That should make the shine warmer.     When my wife saw the Av, she "suggested"  :knuppel2: I do her Jag.
