This one's not local and not as good a deal but he (she) might take less.

Man you are quick!!! You don't want me to get one or anything do ya??!!! I called about the first one you posted, it threw me off saying it was for a pontiac gto but I double checked with the diablo website and it said it was compatible. What questions do I need to ask the guy and is there anything I need to watch for?

I'd suggest you take the truck when you go to buy it and try uploading the tune. If the guy's on the up-and-up he won't mind letting you do this. That way you know for sure he unloaded the tune from his old car. If he didn't, you'll get an error message when trying to install the tune on your truck. It's a pretty simple operation - just follow the on-screen prompts for the initial install.

It's not a problem; I like to help. If you need any help tweaking the tire size, just let me know. The best way to dial the tire size in is to make the adjustment, then go drive the truck and check your speed with a GPS unit. That's what I did to get my truck dialed in so that the speedo reads exactly right. Fowlhunter hasn't gone that far yet; we tweaked his in a little but he says it's still not exactly right. It's mainly because the "theoretical" height of the tires sometimes differs from the real-world height of the tires, not to mention that rim width also changes tire height slightly.

There's other things to do also, like tweaking the injector slope, eliminating torque management, adjusting the timing, and adjusting the shift rpms. These should all help compensate a small amount for the larger wheel/tire combination. If you don't get an owner's manual you can go to the Diablosport website and print one from there. I'd suggest you do that as it contains some information about the basics.

I am currently waiting a call back from the guy selling. He is located in the central west end, but comes over to Illinois once in a while.

Have him find out what software version it is also. Older ones can't be updated without a $100 upgrade. Mine is an old one and I'll let you know the version once I get home. MonteSS is real good with that info. He did a custom tune for mine that turned on my efans for me.

Well, I am supposed to meet the guy around 2:30 and he agreed to load the tune to my truck before purchase. That seems to be a real good price. The cheapest I found was at Summit for $329

Just talked to the guy again and he said he believes it has version 2.04 so it cannot do data logging but it does come with the usb cable( another $40 new) so all in all it seems to be a great deal even if I send it in for updating I only will have $275 in it.

You probably won't even miss the data logging capability unless you were wanting to get into custom programming. It should work fine as-is for basic tuning tweaks.

I will see how I like it as is. He was saying with the older version you have other options that they got rid of with the new like turning off the o2 sensors.? Whole new world for me gonna be fun!!!

MBT understands a whole lot more about this stuff than I do. I've tinkered with mine here and there to get it a little more economical and shift a little better.

Some of us like to spend our free time making our trucks better, and then driving them, and then there's some of us that like to spend their time developing a cool web site.  Personally, I am the former, but I'm glad that there's a guy like BD around.  Truth be known, I think it's a lot easier to do a bit of custom tuning than it is to do a web site.

could'a gotten one brand new, with a warranty, for only $299 from concoursdirect.com... and it'd be the newer version of it that would have the newer/better canned tunes in it, would allow you to do data logging, and also be able to do downloadable internet updates...

;-)

but, you can still always hit me up for a custom DiabLew Tune - which are much better than the canned tunes anyway!
