Body lift for cladded
« on: December 06, 2009, 09:15:16 PM »
I am looking into getting a body lift for my '05 Z71 cladded AV. The problem I am having is locating one. I have tried several different sites including 4wheelparts and the tech there said performance acessories does not make a body lift for the cladded? I see plenty of cladded AV's with body lifts so please help. Thanks in advance.

I had an 02 that had a PA body lift so they do (did) make one for an 02 cladded at one point.  Did they maybe quit making them for cladding???

That's probably the same kit I looked at when I thought about putting one on my 02?  I can't remember where I saw it, maybe Summit?

I called PA today and talked to their tech guy today and he said that they never tested it on the cladded version and he is concerned about the bumpers with the cladding if they would line up correctly or not. He also said that is the only concern that everything else would be fine.

See the attached link for the body lift on your 05, this is listed for a 1/2 ton.  The P/N for the 3" is 10173.

Hope this helps.  You might be able to find it cheaper but it does exist.

well after hours of extensive research I have decided to go with a body lift for an '02. The reason being is the 10173 body lift is for WBH only(found this out by calling PA) but they still couldn't give me a direct answer. I finally found that some people are using the '02 lift for up to and including the '05's. Wish me luck and if anyone wants to gain or share knowledge on the install let me know as this will be happening in my garage!!!

I think youll be fine with with the cladded kit.

the only thing GM changed between 02-06 Avalanches body wise was to invent the WHB with different bumper mounts....

Just a thought but have you checked any local shops to do the install?  I had a local shop do mine for $300.  It was well worth the $300 to pay a shop for all the man hours  and headaches it takes to do the install.

But if you do it yourself make sure you post lots of pics!

that shouldn't be a problem, my garage has 8' door with 10' ceiling, I actually have room to go taller but the girlfriend said "not if you want me to ride in it" so I think I will stop here.......for now!

Well, finally got the body lift done yesterday. I did end up having a shop do it for $250 and some hands on. I got there at 8:30 and didn't leave until 5:30, so it took 3 of us 9 hrs with a lift! I am glad I decided to take it to have it done because I think I would of had such a hedache trying to do it myself. So, here are some pics I took today in my 'garage sorry for the crappy cell phone pics but I can't find my camera right now and I know ya'll want the pics!!!

This is the way it should have come from the factory! I love it. Definately a different point of view from the driver seat.

It looks good; can't wait to see it in person. How much trimming did you have to do to keep the rubbing down? Have you ever considered adding the "4-fenders" mod?
2002 LPM Z71, factory 4.10s - Magnacharger w/3" pulley, TOG's headers, 216/224-.551/.551-115 cam/pushrods/dual springs/titanium retainers, built tranny, Yank TT2600 stall converter, 24K GVW Tru-Cool tranny cooler, Hooker Max-Flow muffler, Flex-A-Lites, ProCold intake, MSD wires & TR6 plugs, 20" Panther Juice 6's, 2.8" rear lowering springs & assorted hardware, J&J Enterprises stainless grille, body-color painted taillight covers. As for the fender flares AKA chopsticks yes I think I would like to get a pair. Trimming: it was a decent amount of trimming. In front of the front tires we had to trim some of the inside wheel well and the bottom of the bumper and just a little behind the front tires. It still rubs a little if I go to lock or in reverse but it isn't as bad as it might sounds. When I meet up with you MBT about the muffler I will remind ya to look. I definately love it and I am considering more lift whenever this set of tires wear out!! Bigger is better!

Ya, you should of seen it with the body lift and the stockers on, funny as hell!!! The new tires are 315/70/17 load range E and the old ones are 265/70/17 standard load range. I believe there is approximately a 4 inch difference in the overall height of the tires with the same diameter wheel. The higher load range does ride a bit rougher and I can hear the tires a little on the highway but I wouldn't change anything.

I'm new to the Avy world....what does "cladded" mean?   :uglystupid2:

Body lift for cladded

Hey MBab. I can't help with the leveling kit but there's some others that will chime in on that. A Cladded avalanche is one with all the kewl looking plastic around the bottom. The "nekkid" or WBH ( without body hardware) are the ones that look like a Silverado from the front end. Chrome bumpers and such.  BTW, welcome to the club.

WHERE IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE FRIENDS AND AVY'S, AND NOT THE ALMIGHTY ADVERTISING DOLLAR!
