$40 HID Kits from ddmtuning?
« on: October 08, 2009, 04:22:51 PM »
I was reading a thread on TOS about folks buying the $40 HID kit from ddmtuning.com  Does anyone here have these or heard of anyone using these?  I'm pretty sure these have a 1yr warranty.  Any pros and cons would be great!
Thanks!

Never heard of the brand.   Im amazed how HID's have come down in price.  4 yrs ago i remember they where $600.

i paid $150 for mine 2 yrs ago, unknown manufacturer and they still work today.

I think OBB purchased a set very cheap too and they still work.    I'd say go for it......   ...i have wasted more than $40 at the strip joint with nothing in return.

side note....it only gets driven once a week :evil5:

I paid $60 for mine last year and no problems so far. I went with the 6000's Hidgate on ebay was the seller but I havn't checked lately to see if he still sells them.

WHERE IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE FRIENDS AND AVY'S, AND NOT THE ALMIGHTY ADVERTISING DOLLAR!

I'm thinking about the 5000's for all three (lows, highs & fogs) of mine.  I've also been ready that it's probably a good idea to go with the relays and harness, any thought here?

Thanks again!

The Tennessee folks had a group buy a few months ago and I have lows, highs and fogs.  They are plug and play and couldn't be happier.  I'll get you the information if interested.  It was around $50/set.  I have 6K lows/fogs and 8K highs.

Im confused.   Why do you need relays and harness?

The kit is Plug n play.

The relay and harness just provide a better and more consistent power to the ballasts, especially at start up.  If the ballasts get freaky, the relay will help save the rest of your electrical.  On a set of HID's I installed on my Avy, the ballasts hosed my battery in about 30 seconds.  NOT good.  The DDM 6000's I have installed now on low work REALLY good and the relay just adds a nice comfort factor for me.

I do not have the wiring harness for the fogs and they aren't installed yet, but I don't have them full-on all the time anyway.  Startup seems to be the big issue, and the lows always come on in my garage in the morning.  If I add the HID high beams, then I'll relay them up too.

BTW, anybody have H10 bulbs in 6000k they want to trade for 880's (cladded) in 6000k?
