Rust on Rear Quarters
« on: September 29, 2009, 02:03:29 PM »
I have an 02 Av with cladding, where the left rear quarter panel has started to rust above the wheel.  Upon reviewing Pondfly's post  the drivers side is starting to blister as well.  Anyway I am not in the market to purchase a new truck because I really like mine.  Without replacing both the inner and outer quarters and fender.  A new box will run about 1,200 each.

Talking to my body shop guy he seems to think we might be able to do some body work and replace the portions of the rust with a fender flare; however, it seems that they do not make flares for an 02 Av with the cladding.  Any alternative ideas out there.

Thanks

They do make fenders for the 02 Cladded Av.. But I don't think they will help you...Gotta remember the Cladded Av is one of a kind with sheet metal.

I have seen those, but the rust has began to eat it's way about 2 inches onto the quarter on that passenger side.  Trust me it is killing me.  I am contemplating the yard but with most yards ill have to buy the whole box for the bed because the bed will be no good to anyone after it is cut.

Thanks though.

How many miles do you have?  You should be able to get just the Sheetmetal 1/4

There isnt any fender guards for the cladded that im aware of...

...but this pic clearly shows it was painted to match the cladding or sprayed with Rhino or Line-x.
