Keystone Functional Ram Air Hood Details, Review, and Pics!!
« on: August 18, 2009, 02:35:32 PM »
Had this posted on CAFCNA but I figured some on here may be interested (and I am posting on here more now anyway ). Ok guys here we go!!  I just recieved the hood from Keystone, and have good things to report so far! It arrived packed really well from the manufacturer, and when pulled out it did have a few very small issues (i.e. swirls and bumps, but not a big deal), all in all the hood looks freakin awesome. Took it to my body and paint guy and he said all looks good and should be a 2 day job tops, basically depends on how it lines up on the truck, but so far so good! I will update as the we get further. It went in on Monday 8/17 so as things come up I will let you all know, but the first hurdle is over (got it here in one piece).  I will post pics of the final result when all done and report to let you all know of any noticiable gains in HP or MPG. So standby, here we go!!

O.K. first update about the hood! Just talked to my body and paint guy and it took just a bit of extra work to get it to line up right, but he said it was the best fit he has seen for a fiberglass hood! So that is another plus for keystone! It is getting sprayed as we speak, and the hood did come with the mesh inserts installed and primed so getting those painted black to match the rest of my mods. More to come! Sposed to get it back tomorrow or first thing thursday, so standby for pics.

Ya nothin you can really do about the swirling etc. but no fault of the manufacturer at all, and my paint guy took care of it super easy! Only thing I was worried about really was a crack er something like that but even if so nothing a boat shop couldn't take care of and I have one right down the street! I am lookin forward to seein what she looks like, should look pretty bad ass! I had them paint the msh inserts black to match my black bowtie and the headlight covers and such so should look pretty cool. standby for pics, and if you comin to bratfest you can check it out first hand with the intake system it is made to work with! :coolsmiley:

Your truck is the wrong color so the hood won't match, Rich. Mine, however, is LPM so it should be a perfect match!  I think it also fits in with the performance theme of my truck better. Don't turn your back for too long at Bratfest...................

That looks great. I would like to get some kind of cowl induction with a scoop type in it. (make any kind of sense?) I can picture it in my head.

I'd like to see the underside and how it fits to the airbox or does it ?
I had an '02 Pewter AV, yours looks great with the new hood.

I have the steel Goodmark ramair/cowl hood on my '04 Arrival Blue. Hmmm, guy moved in next door last year drag races and builds his own race cars, does mechanical/body damage work on his friend's vehicles often. I don't know him well but with his skills/tools and mine I could have true ram air easier/better than if I do it myself.

Do you want a steel one?

I think BlueDevil has the Goodmark cowl induction steel hood, I have the cowl induction faux ram-air hood.
I was in on original group buy so got a real good deal, ask Enkie if they are still available from Goodmark.

Sorry about  :jacked:   :evil5:

I like the Keystone and both Goodmark hoods, they add character to a truck

I went on Goodmark's website and didn't see the one you have for the Avalanche. Enkei, do you have a line on these?

If you have a WBH (no cladding) a Silverado/Suburban hood should fit.

Enkei might find you a better deal. Our cladded trucks are no longer made making it more expensive for Keystone or Goodmark to produce and stock an item with a limited market. Look for close-out sales and post up any discounts. I got my Waag front and rear bumper guards from http://www.autoanything.com/  when Waag quit making them. Demand was enough Waag decided to make more but the price went way up. I got lucky.

Not sure, I had a glass hood on my Camaro.  I would probably go with a steel hood?
