I like it, I have both black & blue paint on hand so might copy it

My bowtie was has a subsurface crack, a Texas member swapped me a blue one from his previous ABM AV at an Alabama GTG. It held up well but has a few stone/bug chips after years of duty. I picked up some Rust-Oleum mettalic blue paint cheap and of course black too.

My truck is Arrival Blue cladded in a black & blue theme, what I'd really like to do is black the power bar and a blue bowtie though.

Very nice!

I would like to do something similar to mine, however, I dont want to start the process until I can figure out what the easiest or better said, a way to remove the gold without jacking up the acrylic emblem...

How did you do it?  Anyone else?

Painted it all red, Masked off the edges and painted the black and then put a few coats of clear on it. (All rattle can) I'm sure it would turn out REALLY nice shot with automotive finishes but it was the look I was after and it is holding up great.

my blue one I traded for had clear coat too, I forgot to get clear. Only thing I need to do is sand it down, repaint

Another way is get a custom vinyl bowtie decal or even print one yourself, stick it on and then clearcoat it a few times.
You could always pull it off and clean any stickum off with alcohol or some other benigh solvent.

ok, so you painted the outside of it.  Ahh.  Gotcha.  I was thinking you removed it, removed the gold from the underside and painted the backside of it.  Thats how I envisioned doing it.  I may give it a shot, if not, Ill just spray the outside the way you did and clearcoat the hell out of it.  :)

Thanks guys.

Rid the gold to make it "clear" and add a fluorescent strip with your own name on it,  Very cool.
