Thanks for all the great info - you guys are a big help!
 :cacrocks"

Looks like I got it narrowed down to the Cooper H/T's or a set of Toyo Open Country HT's
I can get either for about $680 out the door with mounting, balancing, lifetime rotating and balancing and a free alignment. That doesn't include Uncle Sam's cut.

The sensor will cost between $60 & $90

Anybody got some work to be done where I can earn some extra cash?? :wavey:

Well, which one did you end up going with?  I don't see it but maybe I missed it, nobody suggested going with an "LT" (Light Truck) rather than a "P" (Passenger) tire?

It just so happens my girlfriend blew out the side wall on one of her original rear tires (Goodyear Wrangler A/T) and they had 53,??? miles on them so she is now in the market for new tires.  There are no suspension mods done to her 05 Z-71, occasionally she will tow her wave runner to the lake and she travels on gravel roads when she goes to her Mom & Dads.  I told her she should go with an LT265/70R17 rather than the P265/70R17.  I thought something with a little stiffer side wall and a decent tread but not too aggressive? One of the tires I was looking at for her is the Cooper Discoverer S/T.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks all!!

I've been running the Discoverer H/T for almost 20k now. It's the Pmetric but I like it. I don't do any heavy towing or hauling is why I stayed away from the LT. I also went with the H/T because it's great year round and if the snow gets nasty I have 4x4 to handle that.

 Sorry - I hate when I do that - start a post and not give the final update

Well this is an interesting story.
I went into my local Chevy dealer to buy a pressure sensor which I made sure they had by calling in advance. They said on the phone that it would be about $72. When I got there, the guy tells me it will cost $55. They wanted to give me a break so I would become a more loyal customer. I'm thinking, huh pretty good deal as I'm walking past a stack of Goodyear Wrangler AT/S's and the thought hit me, I wonder just how much they want to make me a more loyal customer. I stop at the service desk and get prices on several different brands of tires including the OE Wranglers. The price he quoted me for the wranglers was nearly $100 less than the other brands.

Long story short, I went with another set of Wrangler AT/S's.

So far they have been really good in the rain, unlike my last set and I think the alignment really helped the handling. I really like the look of the tire over the other brands and hope I can get another 60K out of these.

A note about our local Chevy Dealer, they have always been a very reputable dealer and if I could ever afford a new Chevy, I would definitely go to them. If you are ever at the Indiana/Ohio line in Harrison, check out the folks at Hirlinger Chevrolet.

Great story, I'm also glad the dealer took care of you!!
If I remember correctly I got about 68-70,000 miles out of the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S's.  I also liked the look of the tires as they really fit with the cladding on my AV!!!  The dealer actually replaced the entire set on my AV, the sidewalls on three of the four tires were starting to separate, the sidewalls had wrinkles in them.

I'm looking to buy new tires for '04 Av. I drive mostly on the road, but do some off roading. Most of my off road time is spent driving on the beach though.....what kind of tires are best for this? Do I stick with regular highway tread or do I want something different? Sorry for my ignorance, but I've only had my Av just over a year and am fairly new to off road stuff too. Thanks.

If you plan to keep the original rims,i would just replace the tires with the same brand and size.

I think my '04 had GoodYear Wrangler 275/65/17

What kind of rims would you guys recommend? Again, I have an 04 Av with cladding and drive mostly on the road but do some off road stuff, mostly of the beach variety. Does the off road on the beach have any effect on what rims or tires I need anyway? Thanks. Forgive my ignorance, but I'm new to this vehicle mod stuff.
