UM...you painted the caliper and spring red???How did you do the spring....is this a spray or brush on...
He's got a drop kit in it. I'd bet the springs were red when he got them.
mine was a brush on,got the paint thru stylintrucks.com
stylin is right up the road from where I'm going to training next week. May have to make that a lunch trip.
Stylin trucks charges right at $40 for the caliper paint kit. I was looking at getting one of them, but maybe I'll look at the local parts stores and see if I can find one of them $15 kits that Blue was talking about.
How much prep is necessary to hold the paint? I am going to do this, just a matter of when. I'm thinking of hitting the caliper with a healthy amount of brake parts cleaner then the paint when they are dry. Will this work or is there more?
If i remember right,i think it came with a cleaner, brush and paint.
moosc gave me a box of the Duplicolor Blue... gotta get to this mod at some point...
Ditto! I bought a kit last summer and still haven't gotten it done...
Very easy to apply after masking everything. What sucks is,the need to remove each wheel to do such mod
I tried to remove mine the other day to change the brakes and couldn't get the dang torx bolt out. Any pointers on that one?
I used a 36 inch long piece of pipe as a cheater bar.
I would say remove the caliper from the rotor. Only because it would be a pain in the arse to mask off the rotor area. I tried to remove mine the other day to change the brakes and couldn't get the dang torx bolt out. Any pointers on that one?
When I did mine, it was easier to remove the bolts for the bracket that held on the calliper than to remove the calliper from the bracket. Oh, and those aren't Torx bolts either, standard hex head
My 04 uses a t55 for the front calipers, what year is yours?
would have liked to pay closer to what mick paid, but it's hard to find purple brake paint!
04 Z71
The cheapest I found purple was at Amazon for $35http://www.amazon.com/Temperature-Leveling-Purple-G2-Caliper/dp/B000G24TK4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1242767038&sr=1-1
Cleaning my garage found this:
Well that doesn't do ME any good in YOUR garage.
