WTB Radar Detector
« on: April 21, 2009, 12:25:44 PM »
Anyone have a Radar Detector sitting around they are not using?   Not looking for top of the line, but not bottom of the line either.  Want one that I can hardwire into my '04 Z71.  If you have one, drop me a line!  Thanks!!!  :wbhrocks:

Sorry, I had to replace my whistler this year as the display decided to lose about half it's lights. I found a Cobra on ebay for about $90 that the same one at Best Buy was $180.

WHERE IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE FRIENDS AND AVY'S, AND NOT THE ALMIGHTY ADVERTISING DOLLAR!

Look for an Escort Passport series. You should be able to pick one up fairly reasonably and they have been at the top of the ratings for years. I've got an old one I bought around 1985 that only has X & K bands on it. I try not to drive so fast that I need the detector any more.
2002 LPM Z71, factory 4.10s - Magnacharger w/3" pulley, TOG's headers, 216/224-.551/.551-115 cam/pushrods/dual springs/titanium retainers, built tranny, Yank TT2600 stall converter, 24K GVW Tru-Cool tranny cooler,  Flex-A-Lites, ProCold intake, MSD wires & TR6 plugs, 20" Panther Juice 6's, 2.8" rear lowering springs & assorted hardware, J&J Enterprises stainless grille, body-color painted taillight covers. Self-tuned with HP Tuners software.

Cracked rear bumper cover from a run-in with a deer in fall 2008!

What he said or an Escort 8500X50 or 9500.  Any other detector new or used under $300 is not going to help you.  By the time these lesser model's signal it is too late as the LEO has already clocked you.  Check out radardetector.net for a lot of info. on detectors.

That's the plan, but with me and my technical expertise, I am challenged with the smallest of projects!!!   :wtf:
