It's been a few years since I organized a GTG so I decided it was time.  I'm combining a couple of interests of mine into one gtg.

The wife and I are board members of a local summer theatre, Shawnee Theatre, which is the longest consecutively running summer theatre in the state I believe.  We are celebrating our 50th season this year with some special events.  Here is a link to the theatre web site:  http://www.shawneetheatre.org/

Over the course of the 50 seasons, we have helped some aspiring young actors and actresses get started on their professional careers.  Some of you may be familiar with at least one of our alumni, John Belushi, who graced our stage back in the '60s.  Two seasons ago I was at one of our musical performances (a biography of Hank Williams), and we had a surprise when John Mellencamp and his lovely wife came to the show.  It was a thrill for our young stage company to get a group photo taken of them with Mr. Mellencamp.  (Mr. Mellencamp by the way was driving a Range Rover.)

On May 2nd, the theatre is having a silent auction fund-raiser at the Greene County Fairgrounds, just east of bustling Switz City, IN.  To help draw crowds, we have invited a local car club to show off their classic rides.  I figure why not show off some of our unique vehicles too to help add to the event.  The car club was asked if they would do a car show, but they said they did not get enough notice time to get one organized.  They will show some of their cars, but won't be trying to pull in from far and wide with trophies, judging, etc.  Should be a laid back show - you should be able to see some nice classics, and if you want to you can take a look for some items of interest in the silent auction.  (Sunburst - would love to see either the AV or the Impala!)

The silent auction is scheduled to run from 11-2.  I'll probably show up at 9 to help get things organized.

After the show, we can drive the 20 miles to Shakamak State Park and enjoy a ptich-in cookout.  Here is a link for the state park:  http://www.in.gov/dnr_old/parklake/properties/park_shakamak.html

I know it is a short notice, and conflicts with a gtg in Missouri, but if you aren't going to Missouri, we'd love to have you with us in southern Indiana to start off the month of May with an Avalanche get-together!

Sounds good Butch.  Hopefully you can reschedule.

Can you add this event to your Region calendar and help to publicize it at other Avalanche sites that you might frequent?   :lipssealed:

Boy this is very tempting but I have a show already scheduled with the Impala for May 2nd and have already submitted my entry fee. If for some reason it would get rescheduled for rain or something else I'll be there with the AV.

Butch - got  you down as coming.

Sunburst - understand - hopefully it rains where your show is, and not down this way.

Didit - are you coming?  How did your test results come out?  Hopefully it was good news, or at least not too bad?

Guys, I hate that I can't make this GTG.  I would love to but I've signed up and already paid for a diving class that day.  The class is from 10am until 4pm in Evansville IN.  At least I'll be in the right state.

 :needhug:

2011 Silverado, Ext Cab Z-71 5.3, 6L80, Airaid CAI, Magnaflow cat-back, and a little tuning by me and HPT.

Gone but not forgotten, 2002 Victory red. The quickest lifted 4x4 AV in the US in it's day.
