Lafayette, IN Spring GTG
May 30, 2009 12pm

Lafayette is the location of the 2009 Indiana Spring GTG (www.homeofpurdue.com).

There is a free Trolley Tour of the downtown Lafayette area departing 5th and Main Streets (www.homeofpurdue.com/leisuretours.html).  There are two tours, 9:40 am and 10:40 am.  This will be an ?optional? activity as it is earlier than our meeting time of 12 noon and some of our CAFCNA members may still be on the road at that time.

The activities for the day will be the Tippecanoe Battlefield 200 Battle Ground Ave Battle Ground, IN and Wolf Park 4004 East 800 North Battle Ground, IN.

Come explore the site of The Battle of Tippecanoe $4 adults, $3 seniors, $1 children (www.tcha.mus.in.us/battlefield.htm). Walk the grounds where the conflict occurred, now a National Historic Landmark. Visit vivid museum displays that tell a story of two Shawnee brothers who had a dream of uniting many tribes into an organized defense against the White settlers. Learn about life in the early 1800s and see artifacts of European and Native American cultures.

Come Howl with the Wolves at Wolf Park $7 adults, $5 children (6-13), FREE children 5 and under (www.wolfpark.org)! Dedicated to gray wolf research, the park offers a unique opportunity for wildlife education. Learn about the behavior of the main wolf pack as well as the other animals at the park including foxes and the lone coyote.

With over 250 restaurants in the area, there are a lot of dining options to choose from (www.homeofpurdue.com/dining.html).  The GTG meal will be at Grindstone Charley?s 3442 State Road 26 East Lafayette, IN (www.grindstonecharleys.com).

After the meal, for those interested, we will wrap things up at Monster Mini Golf 3573 Promenade Way (CR350S) Lafayette, IN (www.monsterminigolf.com).  Indoor 18 hole glow-in-the-dark golf course. There is NO cover charge or admission to get into the facility. We only charge at the desk for Mini Golf. 18 Holes of golf ranges from $5.50, $6.50 to $7.50 per person. Prices are based on height. The $7.50 "adult" price is based on the average 11yr old. Yes, this means that short people make out like bandits. Tiny monsters are free. All of the arcade and redemption games take quarters.  Along with mini golf, there are arcade games, glow-in-the-dark air hockey table and ticket redemption games such as Skee Ball. The entire facility, excluding the bathrooms glows in the dark. While there are monsters all around the course, none of them jump out at you. Music and a DJ keep you entertained.

Hotel information is available at www.homeofpurdue.com/hotelsandmotels_atog.html.  If there is enough interest we can look into a group rate.
