Filter cleaning & recharge (Volant CAI)

Who has a Volant CAI?  What do you use to clean the filter and do you use a recharging kit?

I was going to wash it with water (not sure about using soap) and let it air dry?

I've got K&N filters and have always used their cleaning/reoiling kit. I suspect it would be fine on a Volant also. Any of the parts stores sell them for about $10.

I actually used Fantastic on my Blackwing filter on the Vette the one time I cleaned it. I just soaked it down with the Fantastic, let it soak for a while, then rinsed it out several times with a gentle flow until the water was coming out clear. Make sure you rinse from the inside out so the debris gets washed out of the filter. Let it air dry completely. Oil it down, let the filter sit overnight to let the oil migrate throughout the filter media. Then I like to stuff some loosely wadded up newspaper into the filter overnight to allow any excess oil to be pulled into the newspaper. This lessens the likelihood of getting an oily MAF.
2002 LPM Z71, factory 4.10s - Magnacharger w/3" pulley, TOG's headers, 216/224-.551/.551-115 cam/pushrods/dual springs/titanium retainers, built tranny, Yank TT2600 stall converter, 24K GVW Tru-Cool tranny cooler,  Flex-A-Lites, ProCold intake, MSD wires & TR6 plugs, 20" Panther Juice 6's, 2.8" rear lowering springs & assorted hardware, J&J Enterprises stainless grille, body-color painted taillight covers. Self-tuned with HP Tuners software.

That's good to know!  I actually priced the Volant recharging kit online last night, they seem to be pretty proud of it, $23.00.
I also priced a new filter, I thought it would be a good idea to have a spare and not have any downtime waiting for the filter to dry or recharge but at $79.00 I may wait on that.

If you buy an extra you might consider getting a dry filter that doesn't require oiling.

I gotcha. The prices I found were actually on the Volant site, It was their store.  I'll do a little more searching, I'm sure I can find better prices.
