Easy up tailgate Mod & Cup holder Mod
« on: February 17, 2009, 06:43:26 AM »
I looked in the resources section but can't seem to find them.  I was looking for the mod for the tailgate torsion bar (this is the mod that makes the tailgate feel much lighter) and the rear bumper cup holder mod.  I thought I saw a thread from OBB on the cup holders but can't seem to find the damn thing now.   banghead1   I should print these mods when I see them.

Thanks again for the help, Fowlhunter

I think that's a great idea!!  I need to purchase two torsion bars (one for my AV and one for my girlfriends AV) and the cup holders.  I may actually wait till it warms up a little?

We can hook up at Richie's place or mine?

I found the bumper cup holder mod!!!!!!!   :clappinani:  It's located in Mods & Accessories, Exterior Misc, It's titled OBB Cup Holders and it's at the bottom of page 1.  I wasn't sure if or how to move it to the resource link??

Thanks, FH

Just use that thread for a guideline for now, I'll look at it again and see if it's up to snuff to make it a "how to " thread for the resource section.

Hey fowlhonter, I can get the 3" cupholders and maybe the others also right down the road from my house at a boat place. That is where I got my 3" ones from and they were only a couple of $'s each. Let me know. I am less than an hour away from you so any weekend I should be avaliable. I still need to do the headrest mod for the backseat sometime too and before any ony comments, I know it is easy I just haven't taken the time! I do have a garage I can fit 1 and probally 2 AV's in at the same time. Let me know!

ChevyFan has the right idea. I got some of them from a boat store and the others I got off of ebay. Unless you're wanting to order about 10 sets like I did, just go to the boat store and tell them what you want. Also, Yndio has a thread on some chrome ones he did and I know MoAv used a dremmel/Rotozip to do hers. Just make a template and center it on there where you think is best.

There is a West Marine not far from me (By Bass Pro) so I may swing by there to see what they have?  I borrowed a 4-1/2" grinder from a friend and did the rear headrest mod, actually my 11yr old son held the headrest while I ground.  He said, Dad I want to do the grinding, I think you know what I said?

I like the looks of the stainless cup holders but I will probably go with the black plastic ones.  I will just use the 3" hole saw on my cordless drill!!

That's not a bad price, I'm still going to go by Bass Pro to see what they have.  I'll let you know.  I just ordered two of the Easylift tailgate torsion bars today(1for mine & 1 for my girlfriends).

Sounds like a mod party in the making....

Speaking of mod party. I am planning on making Bratfest again this year. No more suprises.   We'll have it on Labor Day Weekend again so there should be no excuses for not making plans now.

Sounds like a mod party in the making....

Speaking of mod party. I am planning on making Bratfest again this year. No more suprises.   We'll have it on Labor Day Weekend again so there should be no excuses for not making plans now.

Very true, no excuses.  I look forward to meeting you, you've been a great deal of help!   :goodstuff:

just let me know and I can pick some up. When I got mine I believe they were less than $3 each.

Hey man, I picked up two of the cup holders last night at Bass Pro in St. Charles, MO.  I paid $3.?? for each, half the price of the ones I looked at at West Marine.  I usually go to West Marine for my stainless hardware, not much else, as you can see they are more expensive.

Very true, time is more of a problem than a place.  The torsion bars for the tailgate arrived yesterday!
