Keyless entry
« on: November 20, 2006, 03:29:07 PM »
:wtf:Both of my remotes were eating batteries. Now they both stopped working all together. More new batteries were no help. Anyone else seen this? I wonder if there is another issue electrically!!!

It maybe an electrical problem?

Give this a try. I can't verify that it will work but you don't have anything to lose at this point.

The service manual has two things that need to be done

The first is synchronization:

1. Stand within 5 feet from vehicle
2. Simultaneously press and hold lock and UNlock buttons on transmitter for 7 seconds
      - the door locks should cycle in roder to confirm resynch

The second is Transmitter Programming (no tools):

You can do up to four transmitters at one time - and all must be done at the same time - all old transmitter codes will be lost

the first transmitter coded will be # 1, second #2, etc - numbers on case mean nothing - #2 can be programmed to be # 1

1. Close all vehicle doors
2. Insert the key into the ignition
3. press and hold the interior door UNlock switch
4. While holding UNlock, cycle the ignition ON, off, ON, off
5. Release the door UNlock switch - the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode
6. press and hold lock and UNlock simultaneously on one transmitter for 15 secs - doors will lock and unlock to confirm programming
7. Repeat previous step for up to 4 transmitters
8. Turn key to run to get out of programming mode
9. Operate the transmitters in order to ensure correct operation

There they are - right from the service manual

i haven't heard of the synch thing.  ill try that in tomorrow. i have tried the programming thing on 3 different remotes. doors lock and unlock, but i never get them to move again by holding the 2 buttons in.  (new batteries BTW). thats why i wonder where receiver is.  i see black box near rear view mirror.  thanks for the replies!  funny how peeps try to charge for the programming info.

Under normal use, the battery in the transmitter will last about 2 years. For battery replacement, use a Panasonic(R) 3 volt , type CR2032, or equivalent.

...also the dealer can reprogram the keyfob with their Tech 2(R) software.

Under normal use, the battery in the transmitter will last about 2 years. For battery replacement, use a Panasonic(R) 3 volt , type CR2032, or equivalent.

Mine is 4 years old, fob #2 almost never used so I'll just switch when #1 battery dies.

I change batteries in both and reprogram after the first one goes when I get around to it.
