Speaker Boxes.
« on: November 15, 2006, 02:56:42 PM »
I have one on the way right now. The plan was to have it made to fit under the back seat. It should hold 2 10" speakers and have an amp rack. It will be here friday for the test fit. I will keep posted if it works I will post pics and see who wants one.

I have 2 12"s in my midgate but I'm sure lots of people would love to see your under seat box.  Had there been a good one available at the time I would have most likely gone that route instead of butchering my midgate.

2011 Silverado, Ext Cab Z-71 5.3, 6L80, Airaid CAI, Magnaflow cat-back, and a little tuning by me and HPT.

Gone but not forgotten, 2002 Victory red. The quickest lifted 4x4 AV in the US in it's day.

I know that you can get just as much sound out of the back of a sub as the front but I'm having trouble picturing what you mean ???  Are you wanting to keep the midgate functional?

Yeah we had talked about it before . . . . it would take just a little bit more time to put the midgate down (have to take out bed panel near window) not like I use the bed that much anyways.

BTW I meant the face of the sub would be pointed towards the tailgate (like my current one is)

Thanks man. Just let me know when you are ready to order. I can get wire kits and anything else you might need that has to do with audio and video.

I got them off eBay for a 03-06  Silverado.    The performance is junk. I dont recommend these for night driving.   Now,.....  for show?  oh yeah. :evil5:

Okay, I know you guys are going to start in on me about the old threads again, but I am going to build that under-the-seat box.
I've built a couple of trunk boxes for cars both sealed and ported and I think this one could be done fairly easily so construction photos will be up later this week.
I've now blown all of the factory speakers in my truck and the CD player is starting to skip like crazy. What better excuse for a new system?

Think you can make one for under seat, still be fully functional for a 10 slim sub??

Why not? A couple of companies that I have seen on line are marketing them, so I figure if they can do it, so can I. I am wondering though if it won't perform better and give a stronger, cleaner sound to port it out the front with the subs breathing up at the seat like that.

Okay, after going to a couple of installers that I know here in Denver up on the west side and doing a lot of research on dimensions and performance attributes of the different products out there I have determined that I am going to go with a lower wattage amp (about 500) from Pheonix Gold with an internal bridge and cooling unit and a set of Boss Audio slim series subs. The speakers are actually kind of a budget brand but have excellent reviews for thier performance in tight areas and work very well in ported, front breather boxes. I'm going to push them up at the seats like the others and punch 3 inch ports out the front of the box. Bought the 5/8 Press board last night so now I just have to get some time to do it.

Waiting on UPS now. I ordered all of the equipment for the system, so I am going to start the box in the next few days although I kind of want to have the subs here to make sure I get a positive fit.

What amp did you go with? I got the same subs in the Subthump Downfire under seat box and was just wondering.
