 :welcome: Brooke

The bed is water resistant but not water PROOF.    Water does sometimes dribble into the bed but you can be pretty assured that things will stay dry.

Towing the AV is wonderful at towing!  The chassis is based on the Suburban so the ride is MUCH better than a "regular" pickup.

Mileage... I get around 15 in the city and 18-20 on the highway on my 2005 Z-71.

:welcome: to our club and enjoy!!!

1. I disagree, mine leaks a little but I wouldn't say pretty bad.
2. What are you looking for?  Gas mileage or capabilities?  I have an 02 that is lifted a little, bigger tires, dual exhaust, & a cold air intake.  I'm in the neighborhood of 11-17 MPG.  I pull my duck boat in the fall & winter months so it varies.
3. Mine tows great!!!  My AV is very capable!!   :goodstuff:

Mine is an 02, cladded, Z-71 with a bunch of options!!  The Ole girl has 104,000 miles on her and still going strong.  When I purchased her she was a year old (young) with 15,??? miles.

I say once you have done your research and found the right one then go for it!!!!!

I bought my 03 Z71 this past summer with 101k miles for $7500 from an individual-actually a member of CAFCA.   It has NAV/DVD, headrest/visor monitors, flowmasters, Cold Air Intake and a few other mods.  Very clean and well taken care of.   I think from an individual you could probably get it for a better price if you really wanted to.  But then again, if this is the AV you want any price is worth it.

I didn't say I wasn't poor but I didn't purchase my Av thinking I was going to get great mileage.  I purchased it because the ride is so much better than a pickup and it really is a vehicle made for the outdoorsman/hunter!!

When gas was almost $4 a gallon here I would pay about $75-100 to fill it, I never let it get much below 1/4 of a tank.

I'll chime in as well. Ours is an 06 WBH (no cladding) and it has the 4.10 rearend which is desugned for towing not gas mileage. We average around 15 hwy and 11-13 city depending on what is sitting next to me at the light.  We pull our 24' pontoon boat in the summer and have no disappointments with it at all. As far as leaking in the bed, my wife carries her $900 worth of saddle and tack all the time so that should answer about the water in the bed. Like tdybr said, it does get a little wet occasionally but not soaked. I built a bedslide as well so that keeps things off the floor.

Good luck with the purchase and be sure and post some pics when you get it. Like Darren said also, if it's the one you want any price is good enough but also if they want to sell it bad enough you could get a better price.

Bullbar, Sailpanel LED'S, Elec Tgate & Sbag Locks, Custom Decals, Ventvisors, Lund Bug Guard, Amber's, All 4 Hi FTDRL, Mag Lite/Fire Ext Mod, Headrest Monitors, bedslide

02's the cladding are gray in color.  I think the 03's and up the cladding is black.   Yes,like any other plastic known to man, they tend to fade overtime.

You can have the faded cladding coated with www.gatorbackcoatings.com and i guarantee you'll love the new look.  Too expensive?  You can try a finish restorer which you can apply yourself.

 :welcome:

Sounds like the bug has bitten you pretty good. If you're happy with the truck and the price then go for it. As far as the cladding goes, the 02's had a light grey cladding and the 03 - 06 model had a dark grey cladding. As BlueDevil has said there is a product called refinish restorer that will make the cladding look pretty much like new again. I've only towed a big load with mine once and it did pretty well, just depends on how far you're gonna tow your derby cars as to how comfortable you'll be with it.

If this Avy is at the dealership you work for, ask them if you can take it home for the weekend and give it a try. Just keep yourself honest when your driving it and don't let the pleasure of having something like this cloud your judgement to see if it really is want you want/need.

WHERE IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE FRIENDS AND AVY'S, AND NOT THE ALMIGHTY ADVERTISING DOLLAR!
