Sail Panel Leds
« on: October 10, 2008, 10:13:32 PM »
OK, I've got the LEDs and the holders for this mod and I can't find the wiring for it. I only want them to be running lights so it doesn't take away from my scanning LOF. I can't find the thread for it. Help! Do I need diodes or anything or can I just tap into the tail light wire in the rear lenses?

What do you mean you cant find the wiring for it?      You loop the wires thru the holes and then tap into the tail lights.

I dont remember if i used diodes or not :dunno:

I meant to say I don't know if I need a diode for just running lights.

Used diodes in mine but I have tail and stop light in mine. IMOP do both the stop and tails, they are far enough away from the scanner it will look ok.

I only wired ours to be used ith the brake lights. No diodes used. Loosened the saddlebags and ran the wiring under them to the area behind the tail lights, lot sof room back there.

:kickass: here

Here are the LED's:  http://www.oznium.com/prewired-leds

And here are the holders: http://www.oznium.com/led-holder

You want the 5MM ones. And you want the Plastic 5mm Led Holders.

Here's how I put the leds together with the s.p. plug, Don't know if it's right or not but seemed the only way I could get them to fit.

Remove the grab handles and the 4 30mm torx on the sides of the saddlebag. Also remove the 10mm bolt inside the SB so you can lift it up a little.

Remove the plastic screws in the SP

Fish the wires from the LEDs through BOTH holes *NOTE This pix shows the LEDS in the holders the first way I put them into the holders, pix above are current

Make your connections with scotchlocks. The top one will only have 2 wires in each connection.

I used electrical tape on the wires where they cross over metal in the saddlebags to prevent chaffing.

Connections at the tail light for me. Lower bulb, Brown (driver's side) Brown/white (passenger side) are +, Black on both sides are Ground

Viola

These are only tied into the running lights.
