Westin Bull Bar Installed :)
« on: September 24, 2008, 03:55:29 PM »
I got my Av back from getting tinted, coated, blah blah blah.  UPS dropped off my Westin Bull bar today and I installed it right away.  That passanger side bolt people complain about.....was pretty easy to get out.  All I needed was a deep socket and extention to get to it from the other side of that bracket that's in the way.

Can you see the clear shield thats covering the entire front end of it?  Pinstripes are also gone and the GM postage stamp, and flex fuel badges have been pulled.

Looking good.  :goodstuff: Still got the 30 day tag on it and you're modding already. Are you related to MoAv somehow? :cheesy1:

I'm only doing the quickly reversable mods.  It only took a little over an hour to do it by myself.

Thanks guys.  Westin is giving you free lights if you buy before the 30th.  I'm sure they'll take their sweet time shipping them out though.

I have been tossing around the idea of pulling the rear lettering but I'm not sure I like teh "naked" look of the sides of the Av.

I like the clearshield a lot. I can get bug splats without fear of messing with the paint.  The best part is it can be removed at any time.  I'm even having them custom cut pieces to cover the entire length of the truck from the door moldings down.

I'll have to look into that clearshield - I like the idea of having the protection with out the bug shield.  Is that something only the dealer does? or where else could I go to look at it?  Body shop?

I got mine done by Ziebart, a national detailing chain.  I would think a local tint shop would have access to it.  It's a kit they buy and install thats precut for your vehicle.

The closest Ziebart to you is still a prety far drive:

I had them apply just about every protection product they offered from underbody, paint, interior, tint, sound barrier, rust proofing, windshield treatment, blah, blah, blah.  I'm happy I did it though and hopefully it will assist in keeping the truck as clean and nice as possible.

That's probably something I should do too.  Might make cleaning up the Av a lot easier too.  I drive a lot at night and somehow manage to take out a major part of the bug population each time.  Sheesh, you'd think I'd have gotten them all by now... 2funny

Looks great Vinnie. Here is a pic of ours with the Westin.

Just out of curiousity, what are you doing with the Av lettering you removed? I've been thinking of a project to do with a set of the new lettering.

Bullbar, Sailpanel LED'S, Elec Tgate & Sbag Locks, Custom Decals, Ventvisors, Lund Bug Guard, Amber's, All 4 Hi FTDRL, Mag Lite/Fire Ext Mod, Headrest Monitors, bedslide

Not sure I'll pull the "Avalanche" yet.  So far it's just been the flex fuel and GM badges but I'll keep you in mind when/if I do.  I think I'm doing the tailgate just not sure of the doors.

Sounds good. I've just been getting some ideas together for something. A couple of other members have done some similar stuff with the lettering so I'll be copycatting a little.

The av looks great.
