here's my handgun
This was a Christmas gift from my dad.I guess several years back when the NYSP changed weapons, they put up the old ones for sale to dealers. My uncle ordered quite a few of them for my dad and I think he said he got them for around $125 a piece. It's a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum.I'm taking the family out target shooting tomorrow so they can learn to use it as well.
Dang...thats good looking. Very cool gift
Thanks. I'll be looking into the concealed carry permit soon.
Nice gift...you're not looking to join the post office are you?

are they the 3.8's??
You mean the barrel?
yep but ,my bad ! thought they were XDM's. you can get those with a 3.8 barrel but not the XD's.still nice firearm. i carry a XD-subcompact. it's out havin' some custom work done.
i think all of the XD's come as a kit. the drawback is the holster. the plastic holsters are kinda flimsy and they're hard on the gun finish.
I didnt know that. The fella showed me most XD guns and mentioned the xd-9 comes with the kit. He never said anything about the others,.... i didnt ask either.
i have a 9mm walther but the suc thing is finding ammo at a reasonable price. 9's were the cheapest to shoot but not anymore.
No kidding.... i bought 4 boxes of 9mm @$12.99 each and 4 boxes of .223 @$14.49at Game Masters. I bet Farm & Home or even Walmart, are cheaper.
If you're buying 9 mm @ $12.99 each you'd better buy all you can. Cheapest I can find it down here is $13.99.
Im a first time 9mm owner. I didnt know if they where expensive or not.
How cheap is it to make your own bullets? Any? Not worth it?
Personal opinion - if you are talking about casting lead bullets, it's not worth it. I don't think you want to shoot lead bullets in a 9 mm. If you are talking about reloading shells, it was much cheaper than purchasing loads when I was reloading .44 mags. You can buy a cheap progressive press, like a Dillon Square Deal 2, and reload 1000 rounds in an afternoon. You do have to check overall case lengths to make sure the brass doesn't get too long, adjust the bullet seating crimp, make sure overall loaded round length is not too long, etc. To gain the most financial benefit you also have to pick up your spent brass after shooting; you can typically reload brass about 5 times.
My new toys....
Still going after the moles in the yard are ya?
Here's my newest toy. It's a Springfield XD Compact with teh 3" barrel. Came with a 13+1 and 16+1 magazines, magazine hodler, holster and lock. Haven't gotten the chance to fire it yet due to work and weather.
sweet pistol! love mine . just got it back from my gun guy .had some stuff done to it.
Guess I missed this post. What did you have done to it?
had the ceracoat job done on the slide, nickel coated controls, polished barrel cleaned up trigger a bit.
I too have the XD compact 9mm. Nice shooting weapon. I just purchased this Bersa Thunder Plus .380 for the wife but I think its going to end up in my holster, its a fun little shooter.
I agree the Bersa is a bit small. That is why I got the Thunder plus. It comes with the 15+1 magazine which makes the grip a little fatter. The XD is a great pistol. I've had it since the XD line came out, so around 3-4 years I think. It is very accurate and I don't think I will ever get rid of it. I read somewhere on the forum that there is a nice hidden compartment somewhere in the Av's that is great for storing a pistol. I can't seem to find it though. Do you happen to know where it is?
Here's a few in our collection...

yah have a mighty fine looking family there JT!!
Thanks! That's not all of them, but all that I could tolerate cleaning in one evening...and I didn't get them all done.
Your will really be in a sling if you ever tick off the Mrs.
Mornin, all! I just saw this thread and had to chime in. Here's the first addition to my new collection. I plan on getting my carry license and this will be my carry beast. I've gotten opinions from friends and they think that it's too big and heavy to carry, but I'm going to try it anyway. Opinions on this??
I did fail to tell what gun it is, didn't I? Yeah, it's an M&Pc, but it's the 9mm model. How do you carry your Sig? On your belt? I plan on an open top belt holster. I like the tuck holsters that go inside your beltline, but it make your weapon inaccessible if you have a problem seated in your car. Thanks! It felt the best in my hand. I also was looking at a glock and springfield. Both 9mm also. Mine also was the smoothest slide action and magazine release...
http://www.imfdb.org/images/8/81/Vah38001.jpgGot a new holster for my everyday carry piece.
Just an update...I've done more homework and have finally found a few options. I went with a nylon belt holster from double triple trading. It's ambidextrous with a belt clip and loops. I left the clip set for a right hander and am using it as an inside the pant holster. Works great! Also, I picked up a Walther P22 last week. Very light and built well, but finicky. I still have to dial in what ammo she likes and stay away from the stuff she doesn't. I got major stove piping with Federal, so I won't be shooting that anymore...I need opinions now. I'm looking at a Walther PK380 as my next purchase. Anyone have experience with the PK? It's extremely light and the actions are really smooth, but I haven't shot one. Thoughts??
I just picked up my new handgun yesterday. It is a Hi Point 9mm. I paid $220 for the gun, hard case, extra mag and 2 boxes of Winchester ammo. Pretty nice gun. Not bad at all for the money. The gun itself with the case was $148.Fired my first rounds through it today. These were at 25 yds.
Donnie, HI Points are not reliable in the time of need!!! I was a prior owner. They are low power and high maintenance!!
