Will this fit you think?
« on: August 12, 2008, 11:11:31 PM »
I was wondering if anyone thinks this could fit in the midgate? I was looking at TheBiz's set up and it looks great! http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?cat_id=4&series_id=31&family_id=55&item_id=108284&locale=en_US&p_status= .
I dunno much about speakers and such(nobody rides around Ireland with thunder in the trunk), but a friend has 2 he is getting rid of, wrecked his jeep and bought a motorcycle. I told him i would help him work on his bike and he is gonna give me 2 of that exact model, all i would need is an amp i guess. Any ideas if this would fit or not? I want to keep the midgate fully functional of course.

There is a box that's made that goes under the rear seats that still allows the midgate to function. I can't think of the name of it right now to go find a pix.

WHERE IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE FRIENDS AND AVY'S, AND NOT THE ALMIGHTY ADVERTISING DOLLAR!

I'm not sure but I don't think there are many 12" boxes for under the seat.  Most I have read about are for 10" or 8".

Those RF subs are nice and deserver a proper box to get full sound quality out of them.

Several have modified the midgate with a box and it does fold or function, you just have a big box attached to the back of the gate.

Hope this helps and welcome to the site.

This might help you decide a bit - The first pics are of my original set up - had 2 10" subs in the underseat box.  They fit fine and sounded good but there just isn't enough room for 12's under there:

The seats fold down to allow midgate access - but didn't go all the way flat:

I don't know if there is a shallow mount 12" sub yet - I do know Boston Acoustics makes a shallow 10" that would work great under the seats.  I decided to upgrade my system and had a custom midgate box made - the midgate itself is now gone as well as about 1/3 of the Av's bed. If you get a midgate box that is removable or can fold down - remember that it will be VERY heavy with the subs installed.  Not really convenient if you use the midgate very often.  Mine is permanently installed and cannot be removed.  Well, if you want to ruin the box you could... buck2 Oh, two 12" Alpine subs installed-they wouldn't even come close to going in an underseat box...

Yes I do, but another member has dibs...if that falls through I'll let you know, OK?  You really need to be sure about a midgate box, cuz you sure lose quite a bit of your bed to the box...I knew it would be big, but it kind of surprised me. I sure do like it though... :winkani:
