Awesome mods will bloat your credit limits
Acting like a crack addict, refinancing your home, farm out the kids......
You'll cry yourself to sleep, stuff like, must get new rims.
Lift it skyward or drop it like it's hott.

The 05 efans are on my mod list and maybe someday this will get done!!  I looked on ebay last year and you could buy the fans (buy it now) for $250.  I guess I still needed the harness, I think it was like $100?  Then comes my problem, I have no way of telling the fans when to turn on and off, no tuner.   banghead1

He can do the tune on my 02??  I thought the HP Tuner was purchased for a certain year, then registered to the VIN???  If he has it for the 02 how could he tune mine, maybe register another VIN????

Thanks

They have changed their licensing since I purchased mine, and I believe Bob's licensing arrangement is similar to mine as well.

When I bought mine, I could buy a license for all of a model year for any given model of vehicle, times 2.  I've got an 03 Avalanche, so I can retune all 03's.  (My other license is for 04 Cadillac CTS-Vs.)  Bob's got an 02 Avalanche and I'm pretty sure he can retune any 02.  This may be limited to the 1/2 ton AVs, but I'm not sure at the moment.

Hey Greg, If he goes with the Flex a Lite harness I don't believe any tuning is needed. MyBigToy is using that so maybe he'll chime in here. He also has the newer VSC controller which gives a "soft start" to the fans and they don't pull that big amperage like the factory harness does. I'm starting to wish I went that route instead of the factory harness. I still need to add pins to my ecm and then turn them on with my Predator.

WHERE IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE FRIENDS AND AVY'S, AND NOT THE ALMIGHTY ADVERTISING DOLLAR!

I like the OEM set up better even though it may be a pain in the  :ass1000: .  I like the factory look much better!

Yes, I believe there are options that don't requiring running the fans through the powertrain control module.

The ecm pins, which seem intimidating, aren't that bad, especially after you have done them once!   :cheesy1:

I wouldn't recommend trying it though for those who are intimidated by wiring up relays!

OBB's right - I've got the updated VSC and no tuning is required. It's pretty much a simple plug & play. I love the soft start feature; many times a single fan will run at very low speed in city traffic, cycling on and off, up to about a 50* outside temperature. I ran my wiring inside loom and tied it in with stock routings for the most part so if you didn't know any better you wouldn't know it wasn't stock.
2002 LPM Z71, factory 4.10s - Magnacharger w/3" pulley, TOG's headers, 216/224-.551/.551-115 cam/pushrods/dual springs/titanium retainers, built tranny, Yank TT2600 stall converter, 24K GVW Tru-Cool tranny cooler,  Flex-A-Lites, ProCold intake, MSD wires & TR6 plugs, 20" Panther Juice 6's, 2.8" rear lowering springs & assorted hardware, J&J Enterprises stainless grille, body-color painted taillight covers. Self-tuned with HP Tuners software.

Cracked rear bumper cover from a run-in with a deer in fall 2008!

If I were to do the 05 OEM efans mod on my 02 is a larger amp alternator required, if so why?  Does anyone have a GM P/N for a larger amp alternator, once again, if so what is the P/N?

At this stage I'm working to gather as much info as possible so when the time comes I'm ready.

Thanks
