We talked about this for 2008 in Missouri but time slipped out of our hands with the nationals in the way, high gas prices and other gtgs.

For 2009 in Michigan, not a bad idea and plenty time to discuss.   To let people know that a regional gtg is in the making, maybe i should make some banners with "region 3 regional gtg coming soon" or something.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'll have to see how the finances are going after retirement in Jan to say for sure if we could make it.

Sounds interesting and should be a good idea.  My ability to attend will all depend on when it is scheduled and what my schedule looks like at that point in time.

Michigan sounds good to me.  Never been to a Regional AV meet.  But from what I see on-line there usually seems to be more entries than the Nationals.  I'll keep watching for postings so I can try to get the time off.

I was thinking about having a Regional GTG in 2009 in the Brooklyn/AnnArbor Michigan area what do you folks think.
And I would have free lodging for the week  My brother doesn't live too far from there.

I'm game, been trying to figure out how to do this for years now. Local events or places of interest we can show people. Timing is a problem, I wanted to put together something for GM 100th Birthday but Nationals wouldn't set a date so I couldn't put a plan in place,  then Nationals ran right over it,...

Just because I quit as CC at TOS doesn't change anything. I'm going to be just as impolite/irreverant as ever, too old to change. Just as willing to help anyone too.

We can do this, we'll talk. Let's put a plan in place and set a date, let Nationals worry about scheduling on top of us. Or if we have a good enough plan in place maybe they'll give us the Nationals tag

I would suggest that whoever wants to host or co-host the event get a plan together soon and propose it as the Nationals. If it is not choosen as the nationals then make it a Region III SPRING event? I am willing to help, advise, make some calls etc. but just cannot commit to co-hosting at this time. Ohh try to get as many involved as you can, there will be plenty for everyone to do!

Butch, good advice. We're just thinking out loud,10 AVs at RonJ's BBQ and discussed the topic. Dream Cruise is Saturday, MS03 was on spot to bring up the idea now with back-to-back weekend GTGs. Perfect timing to recruit support, now all we need is plan

We had some great input yesterday, I'd met every AV owner previously so they all had experience attending, organizing or hosting GTGs. Note I said "we", don't know what role I'll play but it will take a group of us to do it right.

It not really cancelled but it's hard updating 3 sites so I decided to to update the michiganavalanches.com site until I get things set.

I still looking for some ideas of what you folks would like as events and help with the planning.

Thanks

I don't understand something how come only MoAV, RonJ and OBB are helping plan this.

Does anyone here want to help.

I dont have time to jump from one site to another.  Im busy enuff here and reading at CAF.  :verymad:  Post in one god damn place.  Im not from Michigan so i dont know squat. All i can do is donate merchandise to the event.   Come on man! wake up and dont forget that 98% of members here are not from Michigan. So unless you can twist their arm they may chime in to help.

MS03.....you need to be patient.   2 weeks ago you quit planning the regional gtg here.  ....a day later here comes the Michigan club and you decided to take it over there.  This morning you cancelled the planning of the gtg until you got some "what?" replies.

What gives man?

That's it BlueDevil I don't have time any longer I have to do the plans within the next few days. I started this post Aug 8. If I have to do something myself with the folks I have I will and yes it's next  year but for reasons I can't say now it has to get done soon.

OK question for the Out of town folks, if I put this on during the DreamCruise would you prefer to have the Hotel on the main drag of the DreamCruise or a couple miles of the track.

I have a place off the main drag near my house that is secure.

Hell yes, but some folks wanted to stay in that area. Me I like to be able to get away.

If the GM Tech center is still open we can do a tour and the proving grounds in Milford Michigan

sounds good to me!
Off the main drag might be better as it is really busy and hotal prices on the main drag are outrages! My mom tryed getting a hotal room on the main drag and it was like 200 a night... for get that! might be cheaper if reserved months in advance tho. she called a week befor hand. I'll be down there for woodward.... Regional there would be awesome!

Wednesday be check in and dinner? or like an all day wednesday starting in the morning? Id have to work and would be there later for the dinner if you do that. During this regional I'll be driving back and forth most likly and or stay at a hotel Friday night. Unless I get the week off of work then I could prolly stay down there the whole time.

I'll have to see how things pan out with vacation and things. As of right now I'm planning on going home to Va in Nov to hunt with my dad. I haven't done that in about 15 yrs or so. So it really depends on how the job is going and if the money is right to be able to take two weeks.

If anyone wants to play some golf we can do this on Wednesday, since this is not a all week event that is probably the only day we can do it. I know some great courses here.

OK who am I kidding I know all the courses around here.   :cheesy1:

Ok,,,looks like it's only gonna be Fri and Sat for us.

Itinerary so far for us:
Fri am at Ron's to take care of a couple of things.
Tigers game? Do we have anything on this yet?
Do we plan on going to our parking places for a little while after Ron's and before the game?
Sat is looking like leaving the hotel at 10 so I'm guessing meeting at Woodward around 10:30?

Everyone, bring extra batteries for your cameras, you'll need them.
