It's not a AV but close...
« on: November 07, 2006, 07:50:35 PM »
This is a video of a guy that I know.  Thought you might like to see what a well tuned, cammed, supercharged truck can do.  Notice the 4x4 launch, whistle of the blower, and see if you can read the et.

2011 Silverado, Ext Cab Z-71 5.3, 6L80, Airaid CAI, Magnaflow cat-back, and a little tuning by me and HPT.

Gone but not forgotten, 2002 Victory red. The quickest lifted 4x4 AV in the US in it's day.

Awesome run by the black Silverado.  I love reading what the guys on SilveradoSS.com do to their trucks.  :thumb:

I was going to pull this thread because I cant get it to link right.  My friend is in the 3rd video.  Click over to video #3 and watch the brugandy Silverado.

That's Roger and his Radix blown 6.0.

I can't figure out why I can't link straight to that video.

If you can, please post the link to that video.

Yea, it ran a 12.7 @ 105.  That's his best speed but he has ran 12.5 before.  That truck looks like something that my grandfather would drive and blows away some bada$$ cars on the street.  It launches just as hard on the street as the track in 4x4.

FWIW: it a 6.0 with a big lingenfelter cam, a Radix putting out 8-9psi, meth injection, dynotech LT headers, 4L80, 3000 stall(I think).  That thing launches like it was shot out of a gun.

FWIW: a big lingenfelter cam,

Does that thing fits in our Av's? :evil5:
[/quote]

Sure does.  It's a odd-ball cam that was designed by Lingenfelter but it's VERY effective in blown big inch GEN3 motors.  If you've ever read about cams, look at the LSA (lobe seperation angle) of 121.  Most NA cams are either 112 or 114 LSA and 116 is considered wide, even for a FI cam.

My next mod may be that cams little brother:

You should, you've seen me race on it.  I have a couple of pics of me on that track on my work computer but not on this one.

I can do better than that.  If you going to do it, it the kit with the Z06 valve springs too.

http://www.lingenfelter.com/store/ls1-gt2-3kit.html

Also plan on a set of hardened push rods.  I'm not positive the length yet, I think 7.4" will work fine but I'll wait and call Lingenfelter to make sure before ordering.  I think I'll make that call tomorrow.  There's a new set of Comp 7.4" push rods for sale on PT.net at a good price, $90.  I may need to get those tomorrow.

I haven't decided if I'm going to do the install myself or have it done if I do this.  I've cammed a old style SBC but never a Gen3.

They are but it'll work.  The LS engines use the same cam for 4.8, 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0.  The larger the engine, the larger cam you can get by with but they will all fit.  I'm sure most of Lingenfelter's clients have 5.7 F-body or Vettes or stroked versions of them and not 4.8 and 5.3 trucks.

Let say...... if i decide to upgrade cams. Maybe tommorow  :thumb:

Will it require reprogramming if i do it?

With a mild cam it's not required but you wouldn't get the full benefit of it without some changes to you VE table, as it will affect the volumetric efficiency of your engine.  You would also want to change your shift points since the cam will move you hp and tq curves up in the rpm range.  That's one of the biggest reasons that I want to do a cam change.  With a radical cam, it would require tuning just to idle.

My blower makes more boost the higher you wind it.  I don't think that the GT2-3 will hurt torque from 2000 up but it make more power on the top and let me wind it a little more.  I figure I would change my shift points from 5850 to 6200 or so.  That alone would give me another psi or so of boost.  From 2000-2200 down doesn't matter since I cruise above that and my converter stalls above that.

Tuning shouldn't be an issue to you.  You can do it yourself.

This is the application...

I thought the Av's are 325's

They are but it'll work.  The LS engines use the same cam for 4.8, 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0.  The larger the engine, the larger cam you can get by with but they will all fit.  I'm sure most of Lingenfelter's clients have 5.7 F-body or Vettes or stroked versions of them and not 4.8 and 5.3 trucks.

COOL, if you noticed in the link they say 25-30hp over a stock LS1 cam, which is hotter that a stock truck cam.  IMO, those are real numbers, not the over advertised numbers that some companies claim with with bolt-on parts.

I'm hoping (expecting) for a little more than that with the supercharger.

One more tidbit.  With a cam change you, sometimes, get a little more valvetrain noise, not bad but enough to freak out the KR sensors.  That's a 5 minute fix with HPT.

Definitely get a good REAL amount of hp from a cam swap.  I love reading the numbers guys on LS1tech get from just a cam swap (before even tuning it).  Makes me want to cam my LS1 but wanna save up for new motor :thumb:

I recognize that speedway!

You should, you've seen me race on it.  I have a couple of pics of me on that track on my work computer but not on this one.

I took a couple of laps on that track too!

I'm not sure who that is.  That pic was made at Bowling Green last year.  I didn't have the blower, converter, or gears then.  I was slooooow. 17.0-17.1 in the quarter/ 11.0 in the 1/8th.  I can do a little better than that now. ;)

I really wish that Huntsville had been a 1/4 mile track.  I wouldn't have been happy with my number but I would have liked to known.

My best run was a 9.79.  The general rule of thumb is that you 1/4 mile time will be 1.56 x your 1/8th and that seems pretty close.  If that's the case I would have run a 15.27.

For comparassion, last year at BG, I was running 11.0's in the 1/8  (11 x 1.56 = 17.16) my 1/4 mile times were all 17.0 - 17.15.

I don't know if I'll make it but my goal is to get a timeslip <14 in the quarter and <9 in the 1/8th.
