What hood?
« on: June 13, 2008, 03:37:57 PM »
Well all, I think I've decided my next mod is a new hood.  Now the big question is which one?  I know you all have seen my Av, either in person or in the couple of pics I've posted ( 2funny ), so I guess my question is which hood do you think will look best?  I'm planning on lowering the Av later this summer too, so keep that in mind for the over all look...I appreciate any ideas!!

Looks fine as it is in my opinion.  Just my  2cents, but I don't think the aftermarket hoods are very appealing.  Good luck with your search!!

Dammmmm!  I hate this weather!!  The sirens off and there's report of two tornado's - one about 30 miles n/w of here in a town called Grandin (where a co-worker lives ) and one about 3-4 miles from me, just north of Poplar Bluff.  Trying to find out details ....Got another big storm coming through in about an hour or so... banghead1

Thanks OBB - I'm just trying to get some ideas - maybe one of you have seen something different that I haven't.

Mine is a Goodmark hood (steel) for $375 or so.

Jeffs a fiberglass for $700 or so made by Keystone hoods.

Btw,.... Mine, flint4x4 and kybobs are the same.  Look in the gallery.

Other than price, what's the pro's/con's of steel vs fiberglass.  (I also found a really neat looking carbon fiber hood!!  Whew $$$$ )

pros and cons you ask?  Almost none exept jeff has real air openings directly to the air intake.

Some of the Ram Air hoods look cool but I personally like the Cowl Induction like the 70's Chevelles used to have. And also most ram air hoods you see still have the bug deflectors on them which are designed to send the air flow over the hood hence making the ram air portion nearly useless. Just my opinion though. Here is a cowl induction hood.

Bullbar, Sailpanel LED'S, Elec Tgate & Sbag Locks, Custom Decals, Ventvisors, Lund Bug Guard, Amber's, All 4 Hi FTDRL, Mag Lite/Fire Ext Mod, Headrest Monitors, bedslide
