I just purchased this BBK throttle body :thumb:

8-10 HP at the rear wheels.

I dont think so. Can be done in 1/2 hour. I read an article in SportTruck magazine (tech talk) and they showed how-to pics.

Nope, 2002's are cable operated. They went to drive by wire in 2003. ;)

I was going to install the TB but i got lazy on Saturday. Then we went to a birthday bash and got tore up that night. Sunday woke up around 1pm with a nasty hangover so i posponed the install to this coming up weekend.

Hey Bob. I found this coolant bypass laying around my garage that i bought long time ago on eBay. Will it be wise to install this? You know what im talking about right? Is this tube that bypasses the hot coolant from the TB. I wonder if this will be a negative factor in the winter months

I have mine bypassed and have had for some time, even before the blower. The only down side is possibility of the throttle plate freezing in the open position in VERY cold weather. It has happened but was never a fear of mine where I live. I might feel different about it it I often drove in sub-zero weather.

It's no worry now with the heat produced by the supercharger. I was seeing IAT's (inlet air temps) of 90-100 today with a ambient temp of high 40's.

If your concerned with it, buy a 1/4" shut-off valve , open it in the winter and close it in the spring.

Round 2 = total failure!

Well.... after trying different ways on how to get the motor out i decided to bust the cast housing out of the motor. Hehehehehe.... all the magnets that wrap the motor broke as well.

...i took a trip to the dealer to order a new motor and the parts guy looked in the computer and says that this part is not servicable,meaning there isnt a part # for the motor. .... I ended up buy a new stock throttle body.

... I will attempt to do this again as soon i find some good self tapping screws....but for now,this mod is going up in the shelf.

Mick, I hate it that your having that much trouble. I swear mine was an hour job and the one that I swapped on the '02 vette was about the same.

I'm guessing you probably should've upgraded the intake in some way if you're going to be upgrading the TB already.

Nope. Not yet. 2 attempts total failure. Broke factory TB in the process and had to buy a new one for the time being. BBK TB is sitting on my shelf. Will try 3rd attempt this Spring.

Hogwash.... FYI... If youre refering to a TB Spacer i believe the stock filter will fit. K&N 77 series does not fit at all with a TB spacer.

Now.... if youre talking about a TB alone like this BBK then,any aftermarket filter should work including factory.

Did they do before/after dyno runs? I've thought about doing a TB upgrade quite a bit, but at this time, I don't think the TB size is the main limitation to my intake airflow, although I could be wrong. I've been thinking that unless I get a lot more inflow than what I'm getting now, by adding a bigger cam or something, than the stock TB may well work pretty well. With HP Tuners, I nearly always when logging log MAP, and take good looks at it at WOT. I drop a few kPa, which equates to a few pressure percentage points, at my peak HP rpm range. I would suspect at least a slightly measureable loss due to the air filter.

If you can't do before/after dyno runs after you get it installed, I'd at least be very interested in seeing your before/after HP Tuners MAP readings at WOT.

Yep, I was running the Diablo NA tune when I did mine. I couldn't feel it in the seat of my pants and didn't have the ability to log.

Dammit! mine still sitting on my shelf waiting to be drilled out

I lost hope on this mod. I broke the factory throttle while performing the the gut removal. I ended up buying another stock TB and posponed the the BBK install for a later time. (its been atleast 6 months now)

That cheap gear puller is a PITA... Keep at it. When you add that blower/cam/and heads the TB will pay off....

I bought this tool( i forgot the name of it) to re-thread it my way. Im doing the surgery sometime this spring for round 3.
