Dangit I can't open ebay here at work. But it probably is what I am talking about. alot of people have changed them out. By putting on electric fans, I believe it even helps out with increasing the power of the engine a little.

I've been doing some reading and it all sounds like a good thing to do, so I guess my next step is to go ahead and replace the existing fan.  Need to research now and find what size and how it's all done.  What do you think all - is this a do-able mod for me?  Or should I start talking to my mechanic?  I'm a whole lot more comfortable with mechanic work than electronic work...

Flex-A-Lite 282 fans are the easy way to go but they are also expensive. They are self-contained and include the temperature control unit. It took me about 3-1/2 hours (minus the compressor wire) to install my set. You remove the old shroud, remove the old fan, bolt the new fan in place, put the temperature control probe into the radiator fins, install & wire the fan controller and you're done. The worst part of the whole job is tapping into the compressor wire so that the fans come on when the a/c is running.

You can also buy some truck e-fans or LT-1 fans but then you have to purchase a controller or tap into the computer to enable activation of the fans through the computer. Then someone has to program the computer (like with HP Tuners) to enable that portion of the program.

A side benefit of the e-fans is that it frees up a lot of room in the front of the engine bay and makes some of the zerks that are difficult to get to pretty easy to get to.

I'm gonna jump in here and thread jack a question to MBT, My predator will program efans to turn on so do I need to spend the $$ on the flex-a-lite or can I go another cheaper route?

I can't answer that question for sure, OBB. You have to enable the pin in the computer that you tie into in order for it to work properly. I don't know if that's what the Predator does; I really doubt it. I suspect "enabling" the e-fans in the Predator is to enable changing the temperature set points for vehicles that already have e-fans. I know for certain that's what it was for on my Vette.
