I recently painted my door handle bucket overlays body color from previously being chrome. What do you guys think? Here are before and after pics.

You can have too much chrome, that looks sharp with just body color buckets. Nice job showing the contrast in styles.

No the handles are overlays also. I also painted the surround on the tailgate handle also.

Paint has held up great but the I need to re 3M tape them as I had one coming loose so I pulled them all off at the moment.

CarQuest made mine up for me but not all the locations do it.

O'reiley's does. I couldnt find any of the chrome slap-ons on any of my local stores. I ordered them.

These are plastic right? Did you strip it down to bare plastic?

I'm doing a complete ignition change over in the Nova this weekend. The prior owner had a mis match of components and I'm installing all MSD equipment.

X2, I was just looking to change out the rear decals to make mine look a little different and that was a few thousand dollars ago.

That was quick. Just went to pick them up. The handles are also plastic so im painting them.

I primed mine. Make sure you use a primer that will work with your paint as some will not work with different paints. I also cleared mine also after painting them.

It seems to me that the general painted the buckets to the z66 but not the z71.

My '06 Z71 has painted buckets... I've been wanting to do the chrome handles for some time...

Easy fix for the time being. I hate the sun shining on them as it changes shades.

Looks real good Mick, imo I think I would have left the handles chrome though just to break up the blue or at least tried them that way then paint them if it didn't look right but it still looks good.

I think the cladded had painted buckets/handles because they already had enough black with cladding.
Cladded trucks look cleaner with a strip of solid color including mirror caps/door handles.

That changes if you have a WBH or paint your cladding to match body color. Chrome handles/buckets/mirror caps can accent chrome wheels. Black handles/buckets look good on a WBH with black wheels.
