2008 National Chevy Avalanche Meet; PICS Inside!
« on: April 09, 2008, 08:27:11 PM »

TrAVelinman opened the registration form for the 2008 National Chevy Avalanche Meet.

To register to this event, register to www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com and follow this link:
http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/topic,97800.msg1543601/boardseen.html#new

The post everyone has been waiting for.  It is time to open up registrations for the 2008 National Chevy Avalanche Meet in Pigeon Forge, TN being held July 19-26, 2008.  The event is being co-hosted by Carolinavalanches and TennesseeAvalanches and sanctioned by the ChevyAvalancheFanClub.  As in the past, the 2008 National Chevy Avalanche Meet will benefit a local charity with this year's beneficiary being the Smoky Mountain Childrens Home.  All proceeds above and beyond the costs incurred with the event will be donated at the Group Dinner being held at the Grand Resort Hotel & Convention Center on Saturday, July 26, 2008.  Many events have been planned and are being offered ala carte for all to enjoy.  You are encouraged to attend as many as you desire, or as few as you feel like.  Unlike events held in the Southeast in years past, the registrations for the 2008 National Chevy Avalanche Meet will include goody bags, shirts, namebadge and lanyard, group dinner, group breakfast and the infamous raffle tickets.  Different levels of Registration will be available, however at least one Primary Registration is required per Avalanche.  Below are the levels of Registrations:

Primary Registration: $60
At least one primary Registration per Avalanche is required:
Includes 1 adult registration & welcome gift bag.
1 Event T-Shirt S-5XL, 5 Raffle Tickets to each Tier of prizes...
1 Dinner Ticket, 1 Breakfast Buffet Ticket,  Lanyard, Name Badge
Gift Bag Includes: Welcome Letter, Copy of Agenda, Route Maps, Self Guided Points of Interest Information, Area Maps, Decals and more..

Additional Registrations:

Adult/12 and Up: $50
Registration for spouses and children 12 and up.
1 Event T-Shirt S-XL, 5 Raffle Tickets to each Tier of prizes...
1 Dinner Ticket, 1 Breakfast Buffet Ticket,  Lanyard, Name Badge

Children 11 and Under: $30
1 Event T-Shirt S-XL, 5 Raffle Tickets to each Tier of prizes...
1 Dinner Ticket, 1 Breakfast Buffet Ticket,  Lanyard, Name Badge

While these costs appear higher than previous events held in the past, they now include a T-Shirt up to 5XL, the Group Dinner and Group Breakfast as well.  After careful consideration, you will find that the costs, when totalled up, are the same as (a little lower even) previous events Hugz and myself have organized.  Again, all excess funds from the event will be donated to the Smoky Mountain Childrens Home.

As an added incentive to register early, those completing registration before June 21, 2008 will receive an additional ticket for a drawing to be held at the Group Dinner to give away 2 round trip airlines tickets good on Delta Airlines for anywhere they fly within the Continental USA, Canada and Mexico.  This has an approximate retail value of $1000, so register early.

To get registered go to www.ncagtg.com or click HERE.  In addition to the registration, there are options to order additional shirts
(T-Shirts, Muscle Shirts, Crew Neck Sweatshirts and Hooded Sweatshirts) should you desire.  Once registration is completed, you will be added to the Officially Registered list and map.

We look forward to seeing you in Pigeon Forge in July!!

Hugz & trAV

Yep, just wrote out my check for $160 for 3.

Can't wait for the gas to get up to $4.00 by then, plus all the extras you want to do when you get there.  But if it's anything like last years.......it'll be a great time with a lifetime of memories....(priceless.)

It's cheap really, it costs far more than $50 each to attend a concert or major sporting event. Free Parking! you get a limited edition T-shirt, a couple meals and other goodies in your welcome package. If you bring a non-registered guest they won't be eligible to participate (freeload). I might make it down for the final weekend, I'll pay my $110 and bring a buddy if Wendy won't go. Things are still in the air with my job,...

Well sorry to report that I am going to have to pass again this year. I have been waiting till the last minute because I have been trying to figure some things out. Basically in a nutshell, I am retiring from the Air Force after 22 1/2 yrs Feb 1,  2009. My ceremony is 7 Nov, 2008. With that being said I can't use anymore leave without adjusting my ceremony date and that has been set where it is due to family traveling from Va.

I was looking forward to going this year but right now my retirement is taking precedence.

I apologize to everyone but hopefully we can have more local GTG's this year than last.

well YEAH ! I paid for two and didn't go last year, still got my shirt and welcome package. I donated more for Children's Home too. I never won anything at a GTG raffle but I have donated some prizes that were well recieved. Don't get me wrong, if I had won something good woo hoo !

I'm not sure anymore.

I've been to one this year, Fire & Ice and cancelled one, DARE Car Show.

Maybe we'll have a couple more.

With my upcoming retirement, I have to back out as well. Last year when I said I was going I had not made up my mind on retirement yet. Hope everyone has a safe and fun trip.

I did a couple of 1/4 mile runs with it Saturday.  I did one at around 16.5 and one at around 15.5.  I went down a road for the first one (slow one) and then turned around and came back.  I didn't think there was that much wind, or slope for that matter - maybe having the A/C on for the first one is what cause the big difference.

Anyway, I'll be showing it off at Pigeon Forge, and letting folks try it out on their AVs.  Midwest Avalanche folks get priority of course!   :macrocks:

18x10 Forged Weld Wheels, BFG g-Force KDWs, JBA shorties, custom catback with FM70, Crane plug wires, Trailblazer Torque Converter, bigger cam, efans, HP Tuners custom tune, WAAG stuff, mildly boosted with Vortech Supercharger.......

So what time are folks starting to roll and expecting to hit Pigeon Forge?

I know Sunburst and Didit are planning to pull out of Indy around 6:30 Wednesday morning, so I'm guessing they'll arrive early afternoon Wednesday.

The Mrs. didn't want to get up that early in order to meet up with them around Louisville, so we're planning on leaving around 10:00, which means more likely 11, so we'll get there around dinner time I guess on Wednesday as well.

Butch, what are you plans?
Edit - I noticed in Butch's Need a Roomie thread that he plans on being there Sunday through Sunday.

Everyone else?

$4+ for gas makes it extremely difficult.  Not to mention boarding the dog for 10 days.    :needhug:

Believe me, I understand.  It's so tough right now.  If Paul didn't volunteer to help with the gas/lodging on this trip, it might not have happened either.

We'll miss you...but you know me - I'll have LOTS of pics for you  :winkani:

I sure wish you could have come too Blue!!  There was a LOT of drool factor going on there - man those Av's were awsome!!  I'm totally overloaded with new ideas and my want list just went ballistic!!  2funny  So much modding going on (on my truck too  :cheesy1: ) and everyone was very helpful.  Lots of things happening - I kept forgetting to take pics I was so interested in what was going on...But I did get a few (umm, 500 something?  banghead1 ) so it will take a while to download and fix before I can post more...

Funny how the stuff on the tailgate looks like my stuff, hehehe and you didn't say a word!  Your welcome Dave, I will say though he did put the strobes in the windshield ALL by himself after I showed him how to take the A pillar cover off, AND saved him an hours worth of work by drilling one hole where it can't be seen anyway!  Even though I screwed up by drilling the hole to small, haha like duh I forgot the strobe wires had plug in ends on em, grrrr.  My heart was in the right place but my drill bit was to small!  Where have I heard that before grrrrrr      Wooohoooo  Oh and Moddess took the drill away from me, lol, she said she wanted to "Drill Sunburst" hmmmm

Well, I don't know about the "Nationals", but if there's another major gtg down in Tennessee or Alabama or Kentucky, or anywhere near there, like there was the last 3 years - you need to go.  This gtg wasn't any bigger than those, and with the gas prices, was even a bit down from those.  This was the first one I've taken the wife to since Niagra Falls in 04 - went stag to the last 2, and the one in Kentucky 3 years ago took my now 20 year old daughter.  Heck - the one in Alabama was in conjunction with the Super Chevy show there - had a pic of my Avalanche launching on the drag strip there on the Super Chevy show web site for two years.

I remember all them gtgs.  I didnt go to any of them :dunno:   I have seen pics of all of them.   Gosh,i wish i went down there this time.  I have lots of mods to show and lots of people that want to see the AV.

...ps,...i have no problem showing off the AV    lol.

I know Z66 Butch would love to help get a big gtg in this region.  With Nationals possibly out west next year, and Travelingman wanting to take some time off from coordinating a big gtg, maybe 09 should be Midwest Avalanches year to do a big gtg.

18x10 Forged Weld Wheels, BFG g-Force KDWs, JBA shorties, custom catback with FM70, Crane plug wires, Trailblazer Torque Converter, bigger cam, efans, HP Tuners custom tune, WAAG stuff, mildly boosted with Vortech Supercharger.......

Got 13 rolls, yes ROLLS, of film.  Sending them off tomorrow to get them developed.  Will post the best ones when I get them back.  Gene is actually talking about adding some MODS to the truck.  I can't believe it, the warranty isn't up for another 2 years.

Thanks again Butch for sharing the cabin.  We had a great time, the parking was no big deal.  Could have been worse, the neighbors could have blocked off their drives and we would have had to back ALL the way out.   :winkani:

Here are a couple more I took of my truck on my trip over to Knoxville. I have never seen one of these barns so close to the highway so I had to get a couple shots.
