Chrome Door Handles
« on: March 25, 2008, 10:01:30 PM »
Ok - so I think chrome door handles and tailgate pull/cover would make my Bermuda Blue look really cool   :blingbling: but I must ask what is the best way to go about it? I have been looking and the most readily available solution is chrome plated ABS covers. Are covers the way to go or should I look into actually changing out the door handles? Where is the best place to find a good deal - ebay? I have seen a few pictures in the gallery of chrome door handles so some of you have crossed this bridge. Please share your wisdom to this noob modder!  :worship:

I have the "stick-on" ones for $20 from AutoZone for 2 yrs now.  Eventually i will replace them with the Escalade ones.

In my own opinion, i think the Escalade ones are the best ones......... but for $250 (bucket painted to match) i think i can wait longer.

The handles alone run from $75 to $150.        I dont recall if these are a set of 2 or 4 :dunno:

Look in here http://www.midwestavalancheclub.com/index.php?page=95  "Our site sponsors".

...or find them on eBay.

I saw those at StylinTrucks

I also found this http://www.truckstuffusa.com/chevyavalanchechromebyputco.html $275 for door handles, mirrors, tailgate, tail lights & fuel tank cover. I'll keep digging and let you know how it turns out. One thing is for sure, the replacement chrome door handles are extremely expensive. I have found some for nearly $200 a door - a little too much for my budget.

Thanks for the quick reply   :macrocks:

before you buy, wait for others to post their experiences as I find that kit a bit pricey.

Maybe we could save you a few bucks.

I got the stick on chrome handles/buckets & tailgate bezel.  If I remember right, it was about $110 installed for the set...they seem to be holding up well, it's been only 6 months tho...They sure look pretty   I got mine at a local Rhino's shop.  Probably could have got them cheaper at Ebay, but these guys install what you buy at no extra cost, so I went that way.

I have the stick on type of door handles and tailgate handle from Autozone like Blue. Door handles come in a set of 2 for $12 a package and the tailgate handle was I think like $10-15. Have held up pretty well even through the car washes.

So I went and done it!
I found a 14 pcs. Putco set on eBay for just under $200. Putco seems to be the best by all the reviews I have read and the kit I got would normally go for nearly $300 at most shops. I just installed them and so I don't get a

Here are a few crappy pix from my cell phone. I almost cried when I got done cleaning her and found soooo many dings and scratches. There is only two problems now. First, the truck is now SCREAMING for a set of 20's or 22's which will have to wait. Second, how to I score this on the mod count??? Is it 1 mod or 4?
