Sounds like a good product, but I would think that installing a cord like that would almost force you to mount your Radar Detector up high on the windshield which is what you don't want to do. It is best to mount your Radar Detector as low on the windshield as possible because when radar is shot at your vehicle they are most likely targeting your license plate grille area. It looks like this product would work however with my Passport 8500 X50!
You could probably run a power supply tap from the mirror and run it across/under the headliner, down/behind the A-Pillar molding, and then bring it back across/under the dash so you could still " hard wire" the radar detector and keep the unit low on the windshield.
