Need Ideas and Coordinators/Planners for a Regional GTG
« on: January 24, 2008, 11:33:02 PM »
I am looking for ideas and people to host/Coordinate a Regional GTG. There has been talk in past years of holding a large Region GTG in the Midwest but it never happened. Is this the year to try it? I know with the Nationals at CAFCNA coming up in July many members will plan a vacation around that, do you think there is room for a regional event, maybe in the fall? Can we expand one of the regular "yearly" events into a Regional Meet? My vision would be something along the lines of a long weekend. I have a proposal but am interested in your input first.

If we could get a plan together for a 3 or 4 day weekend in September, would any of you be interested? I am all about family GTG's where there is something for everyone to do! We don't need to make it real elaborate or try to plan every minute of the GTG but should have several ideas for events and cruises etc. If you have a idea that you think would make for a great regional event please post them up in this thread!!

I like the idea butch. Most of us that have kids have them in school in september so that's something to think about also. I'll try to help think of something here. Possibly a Spring Break time would be nice. The weekend after Easter. I know Fire & Ice 3 is coming up in Feb. and we're going to WV WWW VI in April which is normally when Easter is. We have an early Easter this year so WV is coming in at a nice time.

I didn't get any response over at CAFCNA when I ask for ideas so go check with those people. Have them post here and lets see if we can get a plan going.

LOL  Have them to post here?  Who you kidding Butch?

Keep trying at cafcna because it aint going to work here as we dont have enuff members for this discussion. Theres atleast 100 members at cafcna from the midwest that dont even bother to come around here and they wont come. They already built a family there and they will not start over again.  Others simply quit visiting MAC for whatever reason and i see them daily at cafcna. I gave up posting MAC stuff there because is just worthless.

They come, they come, they dont, they dont..... it doesnt bother me anymore.  We just keep tagging and building MAC our own way and maybe in the future MAC can host an event of its own with its own members.   Give it time.

I'd like to see a GTG around/near Terra Haute, IN.  I don't know what's in that town, other than a college - but I'm going to start researching it.  THe reason is, the Ohio guys can't  come all the way over here for a GTG - and I'm not driving all the way over there....Soooooo...I drew a line between OBB &Kansas City (where a lot of members are, and Terre Haute is about in the middle.  If someone would be up to plan a Mid-midwest GTG, I'll jump in too!  Whatcha think??  Might even get some of the Mich. people to come!!  I hear they like to party  :dans2:

You are to late, I have been to 2 GTG's in Terra Haute!      Another one wouldn't be out of the way!

I was thinking about Hannibal, MO....lots of stories with that area............also somewhere out there is a Pony Express statue in a small town. US Hwy. 36 was to old Pony Express route.

Keep the ideas coming, I don't care what BLUE says I have received more comments here in one day than I did for months at CAFCNA about this!!  :victory:

Ok.  I talked to the Wife :blink1:

Hannibal is 30 miles from us  buck2  as a matter or fact we're going today for whatever reason.  She mentioned that hotels are booked all week long during late June and early July.  (Mark Twain week)

I will do some reasearch this week.  Ill check back on this matter :winkani:

I'd love to GTG and get to know you guys but, they're ussually too far away and I'm lugging a 2 yr old around these days.

If I came by myself Linda Lee would be ticked with me.  Work is really keeping me pinned down too!  I was up to 19Hrs vacation on the last stub.

I've just returned to my former employer in Cinci.  Now they keep me on a very short leash and buried in customer returns!! :tickedoff:

I told them this would happen when I left them before!

Anyways.......GTG in Cinci at Jungle Jim's would be cool.   They have a banquet room they rent out!!!

Summit White, LT Z71, 4:10, DiabloSport Predator U7193 Custom tuned, Volant PowerCore CAI, Volant Ram Air Scoop, Vette Servo, Sonnax 4th Gear Billet Servo, Window Vents, Hood Protector, Ambers, Dashmat. , 250A alternator, 55AH Optima Aux Batt, 1500W invertor, Avalanche tent and bed, 700W microwave...

If it's warm enough, I could probably bring the pontoon boat along.

How far apart are St. Louis & Hannibal? I wonder if we could plan events in both places IE Brat Fest & Tom Sawyer river trips etc.

Ahhh....Jungle Jim's!!!!

Heya Boilers,

I'm thinking this site should be renamed Mo Av club!  Are you on the Ohio site at all?

Why do they ask so many questions to register?

I like your thinking Blue! But I hate to have a larger Regional type event and leave out the Brat Fest, it has been a ongoing event. Is there a way to incorporate both into a Labor Day Weekend GTG? We can plan it here and then move the details over to CAFCNA........

What about Kentucky? Is well centralized :dunno:   and is not far from everyone.  Of course this requires overnight stay for some.

I would like to keep in  the states pictured above.........Overnight? I was thinking about 3 nights! How about Meet & Greet & Sign in on Friday evening, do the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum Properties on Saturday. Then have the Brat Fest on Sunday?? We could have a Shine & Show along with the Brat Fest......  still just thinking.......AND WE NEED OTHER IDEAS!

Yes, I am on the Ohio, but the problem is that it doesn't seem like too many folks are on the site over there very frequently.  I'm under the same screen name over there as I am here.

We'd be interested in coming, depending on when it is.  September is kinda rough for us, as school starts and we have 2 little ones.  Maybe late August???  Not sure how thrilled I am at the Mark Train idea place (sorry forgot the name) but did like the idea of a ballgame, bratfest, and the Jungle Jims place :D
Be curious what ya'll decide to do.  If we can help at all, let us know.

Hey Blue, I have to admit I'm one of those that have dropped out of 'site' lately.  Lost my use of a laptop for about 2 months, and when I finally got one of my own, I just went to CAFNA instead of sharing time equally.  I have to apologize......

As for a regional GTG, why not use family friendly places at St Louis???  The arch, the zoo, Budweiser brewery and farm, train museum at Kirkwood, not to mention Six Flags.  And I haven't even hit the web yet for ideas.

I wouldn't mind something in the Terra Haute area, or even Indy... St Louis is about another 2.5 hours down the road from Terra Haute, but then again, I would like to stop by the brewery there!
