Stump Pullin'
« on: January 12, 2008, 04:14:28 PM »
Hmmm.... :evil5:

I got this old willow stump in the back yard that is an eye sore.

Think I could pull it out????   :dunno:

I pulled a pine tree stump out once with the F-150 I had before the AV.   :dans2:

It depends on whether it's alive or totally dead. It will come out easier if it's totally dead.

I pulled two 15' tall Rose of Sharon bushes out of the neighbor's front yard with the Av this summer. Two 5/16" transport-grade log chains and low-range four wheel drive. I was spinning my 20's on the driveway but they came out, roots and all. I've been pulling trees out of the fields on the farm with the tractor. It's a Farmall 706 and weighs 7k lbs. I've got an additional 400 lbs of weight on the front of the tractor and have had the front end a good 3' off the ground pulling some of the 15' oak trees up.
2002 LPM Z71, factory 4.10s - Magnacharger w/3" pulley, TOG's headers, 216/224-.551/.551-115 cam/pushrods/dual springs/titanium retainers, built tranny, Yank TT2600 stall converter, 24K GVW Tru-Cool tranny cooler,  Flex-A-Lites, ProCold intake, MSD wires & TR6 plugs, 20" Panther Juice 6's, 2.8" rear lowering springs & assorted hardware, J&J Enterprises stainless grille, body-color painted taillight covers. Self-tuned with HP Tuners software.

Cracked rear bumper cover from a run-in with a deer in fall 2008!

Hmmm...

It was just cut down this fall.   :undecided:

Maybe it should rot for awhile?

It keeps growing back which is why it's now a clump of stumps....

I've been told if you want to keep a stump from growing again to make a salt brine & let it soak into the top of the tree stump, or do the same thing with diesel fuel.  Either one will "officially" kill the stump and keep it from growing again....Wives tale?   :dunno:  But my other half swears it works... FWIW...

Guess if I try that, I'll use brine.  I'm not sure the little one needs to play around stumps with fuel soaking into them.

Since it's winter I could throw a bunch of rock salt on it.........

Paul said to drill a few holes in the stump and pour them full of rock salt and it will kill it.  And even if the little ones mess with it, it won't hurt them like the fuel will...good thinking!
