Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0
« on: November 03, 2007, 03:07:34 PM »

Meguiar's has unveiled its new line of car cleansing products for 2008, and they've developed an entirely new wax formula that caught our eye here at SEMA. It's debuting in Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 and is coined Hydrophobic Polymer Technology. Hydrophobic is a term meaning water fearing, which chemists use to describe chemical compositions that actually repel H2O molecules. That's right, this stuff is actually scared of water, so much so that when water drops onto a hydrophobic surface, the polar structure of the wet stuff that creates surface tension causes the H2O molecules to bond to each other. This not only creates beads of water like normal waxes, but also encourages those beads to get the heck off your paint job, post haste. This advanced water repellent force makes Tech Wax 2.0 more advanced than your everyday wax, and we're eager to give it a try on our collection of cars.

Can't wait till they figure something out as a car wash.  Once done spraying the water will sheet right off leaving little to no water spots.

 This is some really good stuff. I detailed cars professionally for several years and this stuff is amazingly easy to put on and take off. I put my first coat on a few weeks ago and so far its still hanging on smooth

I haven't tried this stuff. I do like the Meguires Gold for that first coat in the spring. I also use their instant detailer for quick touch ups. I do like using Rejex on both Avy's and the bike. Stuff feels like teflon when you're done and the bugs slide right off the bike.

WHERE IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE FRIENDS AND AVY'S, AND NOT THE ALMIGHTY ADVERTISING DOLLAR!

I do like the ease of use with NXT but it doesn't seem to last that long for me. I make good use of their quick detailer.

I've got some premium polish/cleaner and sealant - Klasse - that was judged almost as good as Zaino but is a lot easier to use. I used it on the Avalanche once but the Pewter color is difficult to really tell how well it works; it can be filthy and it still looks clean from 10' away. I haven't done the Vette with it yet because I haven't decided I want to do the big cleanup/polish with the Porter Cable first and if I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it right.

I use a clay bar kit at least once a year followed by the NXT. If you've never used a clay bar kit you should try it, you will be amazed at the results. I only have to wax about three times a year using the NXT. I hardly ever run the Avy through a car wash, she gets done by hand.

Did you get swirl marks from that clay bar, and have to buff it out with a high speed buffer?

No, if you are getting swirl marks you are not using enough lubricant between the clay bar and the finish. Keep the area you are rubbing with the clay bar wet with Detailers Mist. Did you drop the clay bar or possibly got a piece of trash in the bar? That would be the only things that I could think would give you swirl marks. I usually go back and forth with the clay bar and work a panel at a time.
