If your having an AC problem...
« on: August 08, 2012, 01:30:54 AM »
I bought my avalanche used, and the air always just trickled out, hot or cold, no matter how high the setting was. you could hear it blowing hard, through all of the settings, and hear it change from floor to defrost to vent, etc. but barely anything would come out. I got it checked out, and was told the tubing was probably cracked, and the whole dash needed to be taken apart and whole new tube system installed. the quote was over 500, so I just lived with it. I just got an oil change, and decided to change my cabin filter (hepa filter) and wa la. Problem solved, the system blows hard, and like new. Just something you might want to try if you were having a problem with yours.

Great info.   Sounds like the filter was plugged enough to restrict the airflow over a blend door somewhere.

They were in the 02s and some of the very early 03s. You'd have to pull the cover on the passenger side under the glove box to verify if yours has one or not.

My '04 and my brother's '08 AVs have cabin air filters too. I know because I put them there. I have some alergies but my Mother has bad alergies, the filters help.

This reminds me, I need to replace my filters. Need to drive the AV for a few days while I wait for parts for my car. Other than when the car is down the AV only gets driven when it has work to do.
I'm right at least once a day.  Was this post it?  (That's for you to figure out.)
