i have a 2002 avalanche with the check engine light on the code is P0042 and i was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what did you do to fix the problem. Thank You!

P0442 is the code i was wrong

My fault too. you need the obdII codes not the rpo codes. Damn rush hour traffic

Anyway, up at the top of this page you'll see some tabs or even just words,Click on the one that says "resources", then under that you'll have some more choices. Tech Center is the one you want. Scroll down a little and you'll see a "locked" or "read only" thread with the list.

tighten the gas cap and look at the small hoses around the evap canister for cracks.
