Aux Jack install
« on: August 05, 2012, 10:08:19 PM »
I have searched TONS of websites, looked at countless information.
Bose system, 6 disc CD changer, NO XM.

I took the radio apart.  I was going to solder inside the radio...but no where to solder the wires that I hooked up to ad 1/8 aux jack.  Can this be done with no XM box?  The 12 pin connector from the back of the HU only has 4 pins connected.

What I do have is a blue tooth system hooked up.  It is wired to the harness under the cup holder.  This blue tooth system plays through the speakers.  I can possibly wire the aux jack into this, but really don't want to.

In short, can I wire this jack anywhere to play an mp3?

I was under the impression that if you have the built in 6 disc changer HU you can tap off the aux input.  Never tried it but heard there was a rca audio input on the back of the radio (only on the 6 disc changer).  If so just get the RCA to 1/8 adapter.

did a quick search and came up with this. Never bought from them, just an idea of what you may need.

http://www.logjamelectronics.com/auxgm.html

Also I know the unit it self needs to have MP3 playback capabilities. Older stock radios were mainly set up for WMA playback. Not sure if these fix that or not :dunno:

EDIT: nevermind the playback issues, that only matters if your using a disc...

To add to my abbreviated answer from earlier. I've swapped my 6 disc for the Bose Lux unit TNR. Swapped my wife's 6 disc for the standard Bose premium. I've added adapters to both units. I've never seen an aux jack on the back of any of them.

I'm kinda intrigued about the fact the OP says there's only 4 of the 12 pins on the plug on the back of his unit "wired". I'm thinking it isn't going to work using the write up we have on the site. Even if he tried to add it to the harness behind the glove box there's no where for the signal to go inside the radio.
