Switch from OEM towing mirrors to OEM Standards
« on: July 21, 2012, 10:10:47 AM »
I have the stock OEM towing mirrors on my 04 2500. They have the power in and out, power glass, signal and defroster. I am looking to downgrade to the standard mirrors with hopes of keeping all the options other than in and out of course. Wondering if it is possible and if I have to switch out the switches and everything. May trade or sell these if anyone is interested. I dont really tow anything to justify having these wings on the side

Heres a stock photo and description of what I have:

Heres what I want to switch to:

I've never seen them on an avy before. Might be someone wanting to trade for them.

I believe these were an add-on option for the towing package... Ive seen a lot of them on 3/4 ton and 1 ton silverados and avalanches. There pretty easy to spot, they have the accordion like cover between the actual mirror housing and the door mount. The switch panel on the drivers door is a bit different. If you leave the side selector switch in the middle and press left or right on the D-pad both mirrors push in or out about 10" for better sight when pulling or towing. Here's a couple shots of the mirrors extended and the switches. Just trying to find out if the switches will work with the standard mirrors. I dont like ass-u-me-ing

Not a bad idea. Keep hearing talks of the Bratfest but dont think I can swing it. I think its the same switch pad but not really sure... On the D-pad under the light up mirror are 2 little arrows that I dont remember seeing on my Z66. I accidently discovered the power in and out when I was cleaning the Avy. I was wiping the buttons down and the mirror started moving.

Is that power folding like mine or power extending?
